I learned so much about the Mary and Martha from reading this book. I went back and read all I could in my Bible about these two sisters of Lazarus. This is one of my Top 10 Christian books -...!

I lead a small group Bible Study in my home and we're studying the book of John. Time and again, I would open this book by Joanna Weaver and read to my group out of it. Finally, they all decided they needed a copy of their own! And some of them are in turn passing it on to other friends and relatives.

The author makes herself vulnerable in this book, passing along personal anectdotes and stories we can all identify with. This book shows you how to sit at Jesus feet like Mary while still getting stuff done like Martha. <P... of course I had to get this book for our library after I had read it.....

Please read it - you'll love it too!

For all of us who continually find ourselves in Martha's shoes, this book is a great resource and study guide! The author's writing is very unique and clever. She takes less than 10 verses and expands them into a book rich with ways to become a little less like Martha and a little more like Mary. I suggest going through this book with a discipleship partner to make it even more enriching. The study guide in the back is complimentary, but I enjoy just a little bit more on the studying part. There are memory verses throughout and self-reflection guides as well. However, the study guide is extremely easy to fit into a tight schedule! (: Enjoy

This was a good enough book with study guide. It was redundant in numerous chapters and restated the obvious in different ways. It was exceptionally nice of the younger women in my study group to be able to relate to it. However, it really didn't speak to women who are older and have different issues which they encounter on a daily basis. All they could do was agree, as they had "been there, done that and gotten the tee-shirt" so to speak. Still, they enjoyed the book to a certain degree. Interest was lost before it was finished and two ladies did not return as a result.

We are having another book and Bible Study group in the spring. We will be looking for other books to discuss and even though I've bought and read the follow-up to this one, it will not be used this time.

My compliments to the Pastor's wife. Joanna Weaver writes well but speaks to only a certain age group, according to the findings of our group.
