Unless you are totally new to the self-help field, you will find that most of the ideas presented in this book are not new. That certainly does not take away from the success that John Assaraf has created for himself. His story should be an inspiration to everyone and proof that if you model your life after someone who is successful, anyone with average tools and above average drive can achieve a high level of success.

The book is well written and easy to read. The subject matter is well structured and has plenty of useful exercises for the reader to complete.

In the True North example of perceived weakness, there is a ironic mistake. I cannot be sure if it was a typo or an editor with a bit of a sense of humor, but under one of the examples of perceived weakness, the example says, "My writing skills are rusty: poor spellar, not good with grammer." (should be speller and grammar.)

The value you get from the book will depend on two things. Where you are in your journey of self-improvement and the amount of time and energy you put into implementing the ideas.

If you are an avid reader of self-improvement books, you will still benefit from reading this book. If nothing else, the reinforcement of the ideas will help. If you have not read many self-improvement books, this would be a good one to start with.

I've been a big fan of John Assaraf ever since I listened to his Foundation CDs and used his Mindset for Success Workbook well over a year ago. I've been a student of self development for a long time. He is offering technologies that truly recondition the brain to allow you to replace negative habits with positive habits. He has a unique ability to share what he has learned from the latest brain researchers and how he has effectively applied that to his life and businesses to truly "Have it All." He is one of the best in the personal development field and his programs, I feel, are so effective that if you are comparing his programs to others, I'd say this: do all of them, but, use John's programs first, as they help you to apply not only his strategies but also apply other programs. If you are like me, I was buying a lot of personal development materials, starting them but not finishing them... so my shelf started getting full of half-used materials. I couldn't keep up the discipline for as long as necessary to full follow through on everything. But, after using John's program, I was able to remove any mental blocks and finally live a life where there is nothing getting in my way from creating more prosperity, health, ideal relationships, and a deeper spirituality. So, his latest edition of Having it All is, no surprise, one of the best books on personal development I've ever read. When you apply the universal laws that he explains, you get results consistently. I've seen it in my own life. If you apply what he teaches, you, too, will finally achieve the goals that you've set for yourself. I have a degree in comparative religious studies.Read more ›

I read the first edition and it changed my life forever. Now, with the two new chapters on Your Powerful Brain and The Laws of Earning Money, it's destined to become a classic, like Think and Grow Rich.

John writes in an easy to understand way, and shares information (that he's learned and used) about your mind and how it REALLY works, and the unseen laws that govern the world that we live in and how to get what we want in a way that allows you to consider that maybe, just maybe you too, CAN have it all.

If he can go from a 17 y.o. drop-out to become a mega-successful entrepreneur and all around great human being, SO CAN you. IF you are willing to do the work like he was. Therein lies the REAL secret...

Having It All answers the age-old questions: Who am I? And how do I go from where I am to where I want to be?

John uses a Life Design Matrix that helps you come up with your own personal plan of having it all. With it, you:

1. Identify your accomplishments, strengths and perceived weaknesses.
2. Evaluate your current mental & phsyical health, spirituality, relationships, finances and career or business status.
3. Create a vision for your life in all areas noted above.
4. Set up compelling goals for the next 90 days and year.

He also teaches us how to use the law of attraction to achieve our life's dreams. And he explains how we can use writing, affirmations, visualization and meditation to stay on course.

He emphasizes that you are not your beliefs, and that you can change your beliefs if they aren't serving your vision of what you want your life to be.

This is an inspiring book that challenges you to find something big and exciting to charge you up and then go for it!

After reading I bought 3 more copies. "Having it All" is so much more than a personal development book. I enjoyed it because of its uniqueness, simplicity, scope, practicality and the author's sincerity.

Uniqueness - it delves from quantum physics to the human brain to success. Odd combination, huh? :-)

Simplicity - the author shows this is not rocket science. I understood every concept without having to read any part twice. The read was so smooth.

Scope - it's not a book about just money or self worth. It covers every aspect of achieving a fulfilling life, from relationships to spirituality to health and business.

Practicality - huge benefit of the book, it cuts to the chase and got me immersed in understanding myself. By the end I was clearer on my goals, had an action plan, and practical guidance in execution, starting from the inside-out.

And of course the author's sincerity. John Assaraf is just like any of us. He admits not being the smartest in high school or in the best circumstances at the time; having to overcome a teenage life of crime and a severe accident. Yet he achieved everything his heart desired.

Today John is a consummate entrepreneur helping people and businesses all over the world. He appears on Larry King and Ellen Show, and most recently lectured over 25,000 people in Nigeria.

Reading the book and listening to the audiobook I felt John knew me my entire life. Not many books have that power.

He is very much reachable through his "Having It All" Challenge and his Facebook fan page.

If you think "The Secret" was something, you aint see nothing yet!
