"Hawaii: Heaven on Earth" is a coffee-table book that you'll have to chain to your coffee table! The book features articles about "things Hawaiian" and nine of the most beautiful models in Hawaii today. Former models and friends turned fashion photographer and publisher, Sri Maiava Rusden and Lisa Uyehara Dohrn, collaborated on this project. Rusden and Dohrn believe this book is a fresh approach in compiling the things that make Hawaii unique and combining the information with portraits of the "local girl." The almanac-style Hawaiiana book makes a wonderful coffee-table conversation piece, a great gift or souvenir that captures the essence of Hawaii. A portion of the proceeds goes to Dohrn's favorite charitable organization, Hawaii Centers For Independent Living. The non-profit organization is run by disabled persons to help others with disabilities become productive members of the community.

This piece is beautifully written with many photos that capture the essence of the Hawaiian Islands. The breathtaking photos really make this a wonderful keepsake for not only visitors to the islands but for the local people, as well. The interesting articles provided me with sufficient information and background that allowed me to visualize the uniqueness of Hawaii. I have enjoyed this book tremendously and recommend it to anyone that enjoys the Islands as much as I do.

I appreciate it when a local opens their passion to offer a glimpse of life as they see it. This espouses their values and guides one's understanding of the aloha experience. If "island fever" is something mainlanders are concerned about, this should provide an antidote! My only suggestion would be to offer a geographical gem to the enticing cover to complement the obvious human beauty. In truth, Hawaii is more beautiful in person than the pictures portray, which is a very welcome surprise, given how wonderful the pictures can convey, establishing it in a rare class of locations..
