This by far is the finest, warmest, charming, most entertaining Hawaiian album ever put out by a choral group. Mancini's album "Versatile Henry Mancini " comes in second and his fabulous collection puts together another six star album. It is a classic in an instrumental presentation of true Hawaiian sounds. It too, is in a class of its own as it takes you to the islands with all of the magical sounds that only Mancini can incorporate and bring Hawaii right into your living room. I accidentally lost my Conniff album when I got rid of some old LP's. I was thrilled to find it here on Amazon (good old faithful) This is the original album Conniff made in the sixties. What's best is this is a CD. Every single tune on this album is a six star winner. Anyone looking for true Hawaiian sounds that only Ray Conniff can master into Island Magic in a choral arrangement, look no farther, you've found it. I just E-Mailed my kids (I'm 72) to tell them we've recovered the lost gem. They were thrilled as they grew up with this wonderful music and do so appreciate being able to hear it once again.

I first listened to this music when I was 11 years old which is about 30 years ago in the Philippines. This was my hula dance teacher's favorite collection of songs. The album contains a selection which would provide the non-Hawaiian listener a good sample of what kind of people these islanders are. Ray Conniff's arrangements of the songs whets the appetite for more hawaiian music.

Incredible performances of the most typical Hawaiian songs in the style of the fantastic Ray Conniff Singers; the very happy tunes like "The Hukilau Song", "Pearly Shells", "Tiny Bubbles" and "My Little Grass Shack In Kealakekua, Hawaii"; beautiful romantic ballads like "Blue Hawaii", "Beyond The Reef", "Sweet Leilani" and "The Hawaiian Wedding Song"; to close the album, there is a great song choosed to finish: "I Wish They Didn't Mean Goodbye"; this is one of the best Hawaiian albums that exists.

This, the dearesr CD I have ever purchased, (I have 750)....is worth every Cent!

After a trip to Hawaii and experiencing the sounds of the island Ray Conniff and the chorus decided to record this in 1967. If you have been to Hawaii or dreaming of visiting you will experience the wonderful sounds of the islands thanks to the talents of Ray! Tiny Bubbles is one example! Good Connff fare again!!

For the Ray conniff "traditionalists," prepare yourselves! This CD obviously has the tight focus of a thematic collection, but it will also put you in a MOOD! While much of the music of the South Seas has a dominant melancholy touch, this CD includes an excellent mixture of both the happiest of music and yes, the melancholy. Not "depressing," but deeply thought-provoking. Of particular note in this collection are my own favorites, "Blue Hawaii," "The Hawaiian Wedding Song," "Beyond The Reef," and the nostalgic beauty of, "I Wish They Didn't Mean Goodbye."
