A Hawaiian Florilegium: Botanical Portraits from Paradise is the convergence of fine art, scientific illustration, and botanical history. A picture of past and current practices of indigenous people is presented in Polynesian Herbal Medicine and Plants of the Canoe People. Including 43 color paintings, the book combines the artist's eye for beauty and balance with the botanist's need for accuracy. Watercolors of indigenous, endemic, and introduced plants of Hawaii by botanical artist Mary Grierson with descriptive text by Peter Green, former deputy director, Royal Botanic Gardens Kew.
