Hidden Hawaii, September 4, 2003

This review is from: Hawaiian Healing (DVD)
Hawaiian Healing is a fascinating film that explores the countless ways healing is a part of Hawaiian culture.
The filmmaker concentrates on the ancient art of lomilomi, which has been a part of Hawaiian life for centuries. I was struck by the authenticity and healing qualities of the people interviewed on the film. Mr. Zak certainly incorporated a cross section of people, from Hawaiian elders to Roland Cazimero, to Angela Baraquio, Miss America 2001. Every story these people shared touched me and I came away with a whole new view of Hawaii, far different from the world of night life and tropical drinks. This is the real Hawaii. This film is a "must have" for anyone in the healing professions, be it holistic or mainstream healthcare. It will remind you, as it did me, of the original, heart-felt reasons that led me to choose to be in the healing-helping field.
