Product Description

Hawaii Sea Salt is 100%, harvested from the Hawaiian Waters that surround the Islands of Hawaii. Paakai is Hawaiian for salt. Using traditional Hawaiian methods with the latest technology, We have developed a process to perfect the art of harvesting this traditional product. Hawaiian Sea Salt comprises particularly pure, white crystals and contains no additives whatsoever. The crystals are a 100% natural food, providing a balance of minerals and trace elements (such as zinc, calcium and magnesium) essential to the human body for health and fitness, if it is to function efficiently. Alaea is the traditional Hawaiian red sea salt. Alaea Hawaiian Sea Salt is non-processed and rich in trace minerals, all of which are found in sea water. A small amount of harvested reddish Hawaiian clay (Alaea) enriches the salt with Iron-Oxide and give the salt it's red appearance. Traditionally Hawaiians use Alaea salt in ceremonies to cleanse, purify and bless tools and canoes, as well, in healing rituals for medicinal purposes. Our Hawaiian sea salt is unlike Dead Sea Salt which is totally refined and has been harvested mechanically from dirt or concrete basins with bulldozers and piped through metal conduits. We follow FDA guidelines for food products during our processing and facilities, making our sea salt a commercially viable product made with salt originating in Hawaii. It takes us a ton of sea water to produce 77 pounds of Hawaiian sea salt. Hawaiian Sea Salt is highly prized and has a crunchy texture is suitable for culinary or table use, and is particularly delicious when cooking and making Hawaiian foods such as Hawaiian Poki. Our Hawaiian Sea Salt will appeal to gourmet food lovers, restaurant owners, as well as those seeking regional specialties or unusual presents. You will be amazed that this salt enhances your meals so much. 1 pound per bag.

I originally bought this sea salt in Hawaii and used for Kalua Pork recipe. (1 1/2 tb of salt and 1 tb of liquid smoke for 6 lb pork butt roast). I always get so many compliments when I make this for parties. People have tried it using other salts, but they always say it doesn't taste the same. ;) I was thrilled to find it online on Amazon!

I used regular sea salt the last time I made kalua pork in my slow cooker and it just isnt the same. This salt gives the pig an authentic flavor. 1 Pork butt shoulder roast (6 lb), 1.5 Tbsp of this salt, and 1 tbsp of liquid smoke, 24 hours on low in the slow cooker.

This Hawaiian Red salt is a fantastic finishing salt. I have been using it for about three years and have stopped using salt in most of my cooking. In fact after having this salt I never use Iodized salt because the flavor is too metallic. This finishing salt is what good salt should taste like and really helps to enhance the flavor of certain dishes. Try it ... you'll like it.

I first tasted this attractive, pink salt served sprinkled lightly over butter in a Hawaiian restaurant. I like the texture (crunchy), the color, and the mineral content. I bought a small bag to bring home, and used it in cooking. THEN, I ran out. This brand is well-priced - cheaper than In Hawaii, and is nice to use served to company on a pat of unsalted butter, or for a bit of nice garnish.

The salt is tasty, and we like the color so you can see how much you have sprinkled on white foods! The crystals are a little bigger than Margarita salt, so you may want to use a salt mill.

Have tried many different kinds of sea salts, and this is our favorite sea salt. It has a light, ocean-salty flavor, which is not over powering. (After you use sea salt you will not go back to table salt!). It is completely dry, as opposed to other sea salts which is important if you use it in a grinder, which we do. Tastes great on tomatoes, corn, salads, and grilled items. Really brings out the flavor of the food, does not cover it up.

I'm from Hawaii and this is a salt that we use often. I live in Colorado now and just brought some of this back with me while home for the holidays. I got it at Long's for $4.99 and it was not on sale. It seems a little much for this seller to ask twice that price for the same thing (same size, same brand, and not including shipping)....even if we are on the mainland and can't just go to Long's to get it. If you're desperate, get it, but try to shop around first; this price seems silly.
