My family and I travel to Kauai each year, and we love Hawaiian slack key guitar music. Since we have gathered a pretty extensive collection of traditional Christmas music, we were looking for something different, but NOT "cheezy" or over-commercialized, and this CD fit the bill perfectly. Great combination of reflective Christmas music, with a soothing slack key presentation style. Wonderful!

This is a great follow-up to Dancing Cat's award winning Ki ho'alu Christmas CD from 1996. This new CD features many of Hawaii's top slack key players performing original and traditional holiday favorites in the slack key style. Also includes the last recordings of slack key master Loeonard Kwan who just passed away in August. We all can't go to Hawaii this Christmas but this is the next best thing! BEN...

This album is a refreshing take on the Christmas classics and is a perfect gift at holiday time. High quality recording; mostly guitar with a couple of vocal numbers. The only downside of this album is that it makes me long for the islands. Mele Kelikimaka!

I grew up listening to and playing some slack key. The CD I ordered came to me in excellent shape and within the time frame I was given. I have taken it to my aquatic classes during Christmas and the ladies all loved it! Thank you Amazon and your extended family they do a really good job.

This compilation album features many artists not well known outside Hawaiian music circles. The music is very soft, quiet, relaxing and in general enjoyable. We played it over the holidays and the music was great for background music. It also became my favorite gift-wrapping music, too, right along with the Brothers Cazimero, Hawaiian vocalists.

I can't get enough of Hawaiian Slack Key Guitar, so when I saw that this CD was released I immediately bought it.

It is perfect for the holidays! Brings me back to Hawaii. I love it!

I played this every chance I get with different groups of people and everyone even doubters turn into believers. A really lovely collection of songs, change your eggnog to a maitai and have a lovely christmas.

I returned from a trip to Maui in December and purchased this CD to keep the Aloha spirit alive. I've really enjoyed it.

When my husband purchased this album, I had no idea that it would be as wonderful as it is.
If you are a fan of slack key music, this CD is a must! It has a great mix of traditional and non-traditional
Christmas music and all of it is a truly beautiful to hear. My favorite is Leonard Kwan's "Wish you Merry Christmas," sung with a children's choir. My husband and I have a large collection of Christmas CDs and I would honestly have to say that this Christmas album is one of our top 5. That says a lot!

I'd strongly encourage you to check out slack key guitar music in general if you like easy-listening music. You will not be disappointed!

There will probably be many who would not even consider auditioning such a recording, thinking that it must be some sort of slapdash novelty production hastened to market in time for Christmas, but let me assure you that this is an excellent production, with serious musicians seriously recorded, informative liner notes, and a wonderful sense of joy that is perfectly appropriate for the holiday season. There are Christmas songs both sacred and secular, recorded by a variety of guitarists skillful in the slack-key style. Most of the cuts are instrumental, but there are a few vocals, and even these are enjoyable. If you are looking for something a little different in the way of Christmas music, Hawaiian Slack Key Christmas may be just the CD to brighten up your home for the holidays.
