This isn't truly a sequel to the first collection, but rather is a continuation adding, to the instrumentals, a few vocals to balance out the representation of music here. I personally could wish for more female vocals in addition to the "Bonus Track". I'm sure Hawaii has more than one notable lady singer.

That's not enough to take away a star though. This again is a most rewarding collection. However, I always associated the ukulele with hawaiian music and there's only one cut, "Pu'u Anahula" which includes one. There is more traditional music here than with the first collection, including the familiar and beautiful "Aloha Oe", a classic love song written by Queen Lili'uokalani in 1877. Also notable and familiar is the "Radio Hula" as played by Led Kaapana.

This record and its predecesser are great CDs to help create a romantic, tropical atmosphere. Hey, they'd be great background for a luau!

Dancing Cat has done it again, this is like a Best of Dancing Cat CD featuring songs by the top guitarists in Hawaii. You will love this low fare trip to Hawaii.... ALOHA!

Bought a copy for a trip to Kauai. Listened to it while I was there and now all we have to do is slip the disc on to be transported back to the islands (at least if we keep our eyes closed and try real hard to imagine).

The music is sublime.

This is a great CD to read or write to. Flowing, relaxing. A couple of tracks have a little too much non-musical guitar noise. Contrary to what another review said, I found the slide and vocal selections well integrated into the whole album. Haven't played Volume 1 yet -- I'm enjoying replaying Volume 2!

This cd would be worth buying even if it only had one song on it - the version of "Pu'u Anahulu" with Martin Pahinui on vocals. I get chicken skin just listening to this song and how much he sounds like his father! Of course I love Gabby's version but always wondered what it would sound like without the cheesy strings; this is it. Unlike one other reviewer, I love the vocals.

This album won a Grammy in February 2006! And diservedly so...

Slack key has come into it's own, many prominent guitar players are following these talented Hawaiians around, learning their new tricks and their old traditional ways. (In song sample #8 of "Masters II", Amazon spelled Cyril Pahinui's name with a "g", come on, let's give the Hawaiian artists the respect they deserve.)

This is NOT a sequel to Slack Key MastersI, but a beautiful extension and addition. The voices as well as the strings are sublime, just right in fact.

All I can say is, MORE! MORE! MORE!

This album instantly lowers my heart rate and anxiety level. I envision sitting on a beach in Hawaii, feeling the tradewinds and sand between my toes. If you cannot actually be in Hawaii, this album provides a good 2nd choice. If you like Hawaiian music at all the album is a "must have"! No disappointments.

This CD has a great combination of instrumental as well as vocal selections that blend together well. The music puts us into the mood of the Islands and is great for soft rainy afternoon naps. Highly recomended.

If you're not ready to spend beaucoup money for an airplane ticket to the islands, then don't listen to this one. Once on play, you can almost smell the tropical flowers and see the swaying palms when you ease back and take a mental emotional journey to and feel a glimpse of paradise. This is a wonderful, relaxing CD - you might want to save it for one of those cold, black nights in the long winters of the Great Northwest, or even play it ahead of time at one of your BBQ/luaus. A wonderful CD - buy it!
