This review is from: Hawaii's Best Spooky Tales 3: More True Local Spine-Tinglers (Paperback)
I actually purchased Hawaii's Best Spooky tales 1-5, and the best of. I originally spotted them at Bess Press which is the publisher. If you ever watched the shows about Haunted Hawaii, this is where the majority of the stories on that show came from. Not all are scary, but they do have the Hawaiian flavor in them. In some cases, you really should have the Island lingo called Pidgin down, which is a mixture of English, Hawaiian, Portuguese, and all the other nationalities that have blended together to make the Hawaiian natives who they are today. You will read lots of stories of Madame Pele, who is the goddess of the volcano in Hawaiian lore. There will be stories about the Night Marchers, ghostly ancient Hawaiians marching off to battle in certain areas of the Islands where battles were fought between chieftans before King Kamehameha unified the islands. Reading these stories, whether you believe them or not will give you "chicken skin" as the locals put it.

Haole (mainlander) and kama`âina (native born Hawaiian) alike will love these short stories, and if you have even been to the areas where Rick describes, you will find yourself thinking back to see if YOU saw anything like this. And if you are headed to Hawaii, the lore will make you stop and think. And if you are driving along a dark road one night and see a woman there, stop and offer her a ride or a cigarette, because she just could be Madame Pele. Aloha!
