The Hawk,
By "cllee" (Modesto, CA USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Hawk. (Hardcover)
"The Hawk" takes place during the time of Elizabeth I and is one of a series of books by this author following successive generations of the Carey family. The Carey family are Welsh and some member of the family (or more) participates in each war England is involved in from the Crusades to at least WWI. In this story the main character is variously his father's representative on a merchant ship to Spain, a spy, and serving on "The Hawk" a privateer his father and uncle have specially built to take Spanish galleons. Each of the main characters in this series of books are skilled with weapons and the weaponry of the particular period of the book is well described.

LOVED IT!,
By A Customer
This review is from: The Hawk. (Hardcover)
The Hawk is about a boy who is a captain, or something, on a merchant ship that travels to Spain and to Egland (his home). Then something happens, no I won't tell you what, and that is what starts the main excitment of the story. This book I would give a rating of 8 and-a-half. The Hawk is an adventure book that has a good bit of history in it. I will most likely read it again sometime soon.
