If you are looking for a movie of the caliber of "Jeremiah Johnson", this is not it. Although this movie has all the makings of a good one, it never puts it all together. Seems amateurish and forced. Even the musical score just doesn't fit. Hate to sound negative but unless you are buying this for a younger person, you will probably be disappointed. I admit that I have read good reviews that rate "Hawken's Breed" in the top three western movies of all time. But those review must have been written by the cast or their family members. Nice try, but no cigar!

I was really surprised that Peter Fonda allowed his name to be used on the loser. The acting was terrible, the script was lame, and the whole story was unbelievable, disjointed, and predictable. The only reason I watched this to the end was because I was with a friend from a foreign country and I didn't want to hurt his feelings by telling him that he rented an awful movie.
