I purchased this router after I bought the Hawking 300N Range extender. (I was so pleased with the range extender that I thought I would give the router a try.) Overall, this router is a very good ,easy to set up device. It has functioned well for me with no major issues. Keep in mind that this is a basic wireless N router with no frills. If you want something with a USB storage option, dual band capabilities,or fancy tracking software then this router is not for you. I will say that this router is a solid performer handling music and video downloads much smoother and faster than my previous Linksys WRT 610N (even with the dual band function offered by Linksys!!!) Range is about the same as with the 610N. For the money, I feel that this router gives you the best bang for your buck.

Installed the router as per instructions (pretty easy actually) and then it locked up daily, requiring a reboot every day. OK, must be a firmware error, needs an upgrade. Contacted customer support, no upgrades are available, suggested I exchange the unit.
Did some searching on the Internet, found others reporting the same problem. Finally, fixed the issue by adding explicit DNS entries to the router. Working great for several weeks now, no problems. Spread the word. This unit also does not have the curfew feature I need to manage my my teenage kids.

I purchased this product because the reviews said that it had good range. I purchased the product despite reading some questionable reviews in regard to setup instructions and customer support. The setup was manageable, and the range and signal strength were good. After three days the router would no longer connect. After a reset and reconfiguration, it worked for another three days. As such, I contacted their tech support. While kind, they were difficult to understand. My first contact was not willing to stay on the line while I accomplished the recommended troubleshooting. The second contact was thorough, but when stumped, he had me hang up, unplug the unit and try again in 30 minutes. 30 minutes later, my third contact rehashed much of the previous effort before conceding that a replacement was in order. Hopefully I'll have better luck with the replacement...

This product was returned within days. I set the router up and almost immediately it would drop the internet intermittently. I spent hours on the phone talking to their customer support which is located in India. The language barrier was excruciating. You were constantly put on hold to have the person get back on and repeat his answering message again and again. The suggestions he gave did not fix the problem and the router continued to drop the internet. The only solution was to keep unplugging the power to the unit and reset it and it would work for about another 20 minutes and drop again. DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT. I will say that AMAZON.COM was FANTASTIC regarding the return! I have since purchased another router without one problem.

The product (Hawking 300N) arrived in excellent condition. It set up quickly and easily without any difficulty, however, after about 4 hours of use, it failed, and failed big time! Lost both the router and my modem service. Turns out it was the router. Reinstalled my netgear 300n and all was well. While it ran, it did as advertised. Plenty of signal strength with no drops or dead spaces. But be careful, it failed without warning.
Amazon was their usual excellent self and refunded my full purchase price immediately. Can never complain about Amazon.

Locks up all the time,

Don't buy this unit unless you want to be constantly rebooting your router. All of its benefits - mainly great radio range - are meaningless when you have to reboot the darn thing constantly. I've added the DNS entries as other reviewers have noted, and it needs rebooting now only a little less frequently. Hawking needs to fix this.

After a good experience using a Hawking Extender and external hi-gain antenna coupled with a Netgear 3300 router, I "upgraded" to a Hawking 300N router and a second Hawking external hi-gain antenna. Everything installed easily, but then it locked up daily, requiring a reboot every day. After a week of back-and-forth with Hawking technical support they suggested that I send the300N router back to Amazon (who were fast and superb about the return). 2nd unit arrived and seemed a little less prone to locking - now only every couple of days.
Spent lots of time with Hawking tech support - who told me: 1) the problem was with my ISP or cable modem (Optimum) 2) my (UPS) power was bad 3) my wires were bad 4) the unit was bad 5) I was using the wrong channels After a month of this I've had enough. Switching to a D-Link - also purchased thru Amazon! Hawking Hi-Gain Wireless-300N Router

This unit will lock up about once a week if you have multiple users on it. Only recourse is to reboot it. I have tried Hawking Tech Support and they are totally useless by telephone and totally non-responsive by email.

Hawking told me that I needed this. 2 months later I am still not working and it turns out I need a repeater instead of a router. Of course I can't return the router because Hawking strung me out for 2 months. They tell you that you need another item after the fact. By that time you have a tiger by the tail and can't let go.
