Versatile Wireless Solution

Powerful technology and a user-friendly setup make the Hi-Gain Wireless-300N Smart Repeater Pro an optimal solution for any wireless application. Use the Smart Repeater Pro to obtain and create a wireless network from a local hot spot, extend your home wireless network, or create a wireless connection between buildings. The versatility of the device makes it well-suited for homeowners, small business owners, recreational vehicle owners, and boat owners.

Dual-Radio Design to Keep You Connected

The Smart Repeater Pro is engineered with two Wi-Fi radios--one dedicated to receiving signals, the other to rebroadcasting signals--so that you can work from wherever you choose and stay confidently connected.

The receiving radio is accompanied by a power-amplified module and a 13 dBi directional antenna that boosts receiving strength and allows the unit to connect from further away.

The rebroadcasting radio is connected to two 3 dBi omni-directional antennas that extend the original wireless signal throughout your local surroundings and eliminate dead spots. As a result, you don't have to worry about losing your wireless connection when you move from room to room in your home or office. And both antennas are removable for easy upgrades.

Safe and Secure

The Smart Repeater Pro provides security and functionality via a full-featured router with features that let you build a secondary wireless network within an existing network.

The router's features include a firewall, DHCP server, port forwarding, Quality of Service, network address translation, access control, MAC and IP address filtering, Denial of Service, URL blocking, and remote management.

Quick Installation

Installing the Smart Repeater Pro consists of three simple steps: power it on, connect it to your computer using Wi-Fi or an Ethernet cable, and connect to outside wireless networks. You'll be up and running in under three minutes.

The Smart Repeater Pro Support Utility is used to help troubleshoot a connection or easily access the basic configuration settings of the Smart Repeater Pro without having to sign in to the web interface.

I have had Hawking products in the past and I consider myself loyal to companies that produce quality products, but the Smart Repeater Pro is a joke.

I was concerned about trying this when reading reviews of these things and the problems people seem to have. But I took the plunge because we live fulltime in our RV and are fed up with bad wifi signals (especially when some other wanna be wifi "expert" decides to help out the RV park owner and "tweak" the system, messing it up for everyone!).

I ordered it, then went on line and downloaded the manual from the Hawking Tech site. My wife and I read the manual through several times while waiting for it to arrive (we read fast, it only took a couple of days to get it). The manual can be confusing until you realize it is telling you first the simple steps, the how to make the step more complicated, if you really want to; then on to the next step in simple form, then the complicated way to do that step, and on and on.

It arrived, we got the manual open on the Fires and followed the instructions (yes, ladies there are men that actually read and follow instructions, and yes, men, there is at least one woman in this world that reads and follows instructions). My wife and I decided to follow the KISS principle when setting it up (Keep It Simple, Stupid) and we were up and running in no time. We "tweeked" the security to our liking (if you are next door to us in an RV park, you will see the signal and it will appear to be open, but you still won't be able to access it! (BUY YOUR OWN!)

Signal strength for the parks Wifi to the smart repeater is 83% where for the old adapter we had it was only about 25% (even before the "expert" tweaked it, after he "fixed it" the signal strength was about 10%).

Took several attemtps to get the repeater set up since I'm not familiar with wireless networks, routers, repeaters etc. But it works perfectly once it is. The instructions are not easy for a novice. Hawking customer service was not helpful - I couldn't answer their questions. Finally searched the internet for other people that had installed the repeater.

It works, sometimes. And when it does work, it is usually slow, slow, slow. I have it wired to my Clear modem (to rule out the wireless). Clear can d/l at 3-5MBS. But when I connect to Hawking, the speed drops to about 2 or less. There is no good reason for that. I have been configuring things like this since a decade before wireless. I can tell you this is not a good product. I cannot find a firmware download anywhere on their site and I have wasted so many hours and days, always ending in frustration. Sometimes, I even try to convince myself that I am doing something wrong. But I'm not. This thing is just a piece of crap. Ugh.

It indeed does provide more range, but at half the speed and they do not tell you this. There are tips like: 1) ensure that the channel is not in conflict with the model that you are extending and 2) ensure that the security is matched like security settings. I cannot recommend this solution. To understand what I mean by this just look at all the desperate blogs out there by searching 'hawking repeater slow' and read them all. Conflicting information on how to make it work faster === well no one got it working FAST. Hawking may be able to redeem themselves if they do one of two things. Publish the fact that the repeater will reduce the speed or throughput or if it does not document it for us from their site. How to test? Search for 'Shaw Speed Test'. Test without repeater and test with repeater.

Regarding the return policy. I had to use PayPal as leverage because the excuses went on and on as to why they had not processed a RMA. And then I had to pay shipping both ways as well as their broker. So I have to say do not buy from these guys.

Needed a range extender for wireless connectivity and the Hawking works great. It took some effort to get the devices connected but the software included made it easier to configure.

I have had Hawking products in the past and I consider myself loyal to companies that produce quality products, but the Smart Repeater Pro is a joke. I followed the instruction to the detail. When I could not get the repeater to work properly, I called technical support. Tech support was even less helpful and acted as though I wasted their time; do this, this and this-then they hung up on me. This happened twice with tech support. I continued to try getting the product to work properly, I even watched several YouTube video for help. This had negative results. Hawkings in the past. I'm going to try a different company.

The box lies!
NOT REAL REPEATER

This is a fancy router NOT a repeater! This product requires you to make and connect to a different SSID. The closest it comes to being a repeater is allowing you to have this device on the edge of your current network and than by creating a new SSID connect back to the existing network. WHAT A LOAD OF JUNK! It than creates issues with wireless networking to network printers, storage devices (like my drobo), wired devices (printers and other pc's). This thing is crap!

Tech support is in India (I think) and I could hardly understand the person. After 45 min the tech support lady agreed that this device is not a true Repeater and that it would never be able to function as one! But don't fear they make one that I can drop another $160 on.

Bottom line this is an EXTENDER!!!
