5.0 out of 5 stars It's awesome
Hawkins Pressure Cooker is really good. I had a "Prestige" earlier in which the washer broke and got misplaced. So, I bought this one. Prestige was leaking out water every time it whistled and made a mess of everything. Hawkins never leaks, when it whistles. And it cooks everything thoroughly. So, it does what it is supposed to do damn well. And that is all that is...

2.0 out of 5 stars Do Not Use on Glass Stove Tops
This thing ruined my halogen stove top. It scratched a top that seemingly was unscratchable. It would be great for a gas range, but not for a halogen stove top. Damn! Not sure what I can do to fix it.

And that is all that is needed. The only thing about Hawkins that is a little bit of a problem is opening the lid and closing it. It can sometimes be frustratingly difficult to do that. But, this is just a minor trick that you need to get used to. So, everything considered, this is a great pressure cooker.

5.0 out of 5 stars Cooking for two under pressure, October 8, 2010

This review is from: Hawkins Classic Aluminum 2.0 Litre Pressure Cooker (Kitchen)
All our birds and their own chicks have flown the nest so our big pots and pans are of little use to us. We were unaware that pressure cookers are available in small sizes until we watched an Indian recipe video. Locating a supplier in Canada met with no success but Amazon.com offered this product Hawkins Classic Aluminum 2.0 Litre Pressure Cookerin a wide range of sizes and we selected the two litre cooker which turned out to be ideal. The 2 litre cooker allows ample servings for two persons and we use it for all sorts of cuisines and recipes, Indian, European, Chinese, and North American especially. Just a couple of drawbacks - for aging hands and eyes the method of fitting and sealing the lid requires some practice, and the handle-locking device gets very hot and can deliver a nasty burn if you forget to use a mitt. Pressurizing and safety devices work well and the cooker is a breeze to clean and care for. We are delighted with results so far.

4.0 out of 5 stars Cooker, November 2, 2010

This is not the first Hawkins product that I have purchased but this one is fast. The one think that caught me by surprise was how the pressure works and the sound it makes during cooking. I was not accustomed to hearing that so it scared me at first because I thought it was going to blow the weight or gasket, instead of a constant whistle it made short burst of steam. Overall I am satisfied with this product.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Little Machine, July 13, 2010

I probably should have got the next size up from the smallest. But it does what it says really well. The blast of steam it releases about once a minute (if you have the burner set so it does, which is recommended) is a little disconcerting at first. It will do 1 cup of raw beans, or 1 lb of meat - don't add more water than the recipe calls for - otherwise it is a little more exciting. We don't use many legumes, so it is nice to cook a small amount in just a few minutes, rather than have canned beans pass their expiration date.

ps It advises only 1/3 cup of certain pulses (we call them lentils) which can clog the vent. But they cook so fast, why use a pressure cooker.

4.0 out of 5 stars Different, May 18, 2011

The design of this pressure cooker is a lot different than the last one I had but I guess since that one is about 25 years old or older I should be prepared for change. I DO like the idea and the pot works great. Small enough for just one person which is what I wanted.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great pressure cooker!, December 1, 2010

I was looking for a pressure cooker for cooking Indian food and this is a great cooker in that regard. Same as the one you get in India, i got a 3 liter as we usually cook for only 2 people, at retrospect i think a 5 liter makes more sense as it can be used when guests are around.

I am glad to find hawkins on Amazon. It is a bit smaller than I wanted. If you are intending to cook for 2, this is a great cooker. So far, it works great like hawkins have ever been.
I had trouble with previous one as the saftey valve broke. I would say, it happened for good, my roomie might've had it on the stove longer than it was supposed to be. This makes this brand more trust worthy.

5.0 out of 5 stars excellent product, January 27, 2012
I have 5 pressure cookers, ranging from 12 liter to 6, 4, 3 (one that cooks at 12lbs of pressure instead of 15) and one that is 1.5 L. The makers arePresto, Mirro, Fagor, and Hawkins, some have the pressure Fob and some don't. The 3L that cooks at 12lbs of pressure is useless in my opinion, it should cook at 15. I did not know that when I bought it, so when it did not cook as fast as the other pressure cookers, I called the manufacturer and only then found out that it cooks at 12 instead of 15lbs. I have a Hawkins 1.5L and absolutely love it, its great for one or two people. So I bought the 3L and its just a wonderful. In my opinion, anyone that spends more for their pressure cooker for what you can purchase a Hawkins for, is wasting their hard earned money. Also, I use my cookers at least three times a week, so I have a very good understanding of pressure cookers, and what works and what doesn't. I really like mine, and I hope you will too. BTW, I have no affilitation with them what so ever. Randy
