3.0 out of 5 stars Could have been better
The Tony Hawk games of the past to appear on the GBA have been unusually good, but this new game to feature the legendary skateboarder is sadly lacking in terms of quality and delivery. This review is from: Tony Hawk's American Sk8land (Video Game)
The Tony Hawk games of the past to appear on the GBA have been unusually good, but this new game to feature the legendary skateboarder is sadly lacking in terms of quality and delivery. American Sk8land looks good to the naked eye, with some slick and glossy graphics and simplistic controls that players of past GBA Tony Hawk games will get ahold of in no time flat. There are tons of tricks that you'll be able to pull off, and they're all pretty much simple to do as well. With all this going for it, it looks like American Sk8land will be another great GBA Tony Hawk skater, but that's where most of the good points end. The gameplay offers a Story mode, which allows you to customize your own character and build up his stats by completing tasks in some big environments. It sounds cool, but it quickly becomes tiring and repetitive, and it's nowhere near as fun as the Classic or Multiplayer modes. Also, the skate parks themselves are surprisingly poorly designed and bland. If you can get past all that, you'll get some enjoyment out of American Sk8land, and despite it's flaws, it's still easy to pick up and play. All in all, American Sk8land is worth a look for GBA owners who have dug the previous Tony Hawk games, but they're better off sticking with the previous releases than laying down the full price for this.

This game isn't very good. It's sorta boring, and most of the parks are kinda plain and they are really easy, and I think they should have made them more challenging.

I'm bored with it allready. I'm selling it on ebay. I'm only 11, but someone younger might like it better.

this game is cool, but gets super repetitive after a short while. I now regret buying this and id rather get THUG2. They cut out lots of skaters from the line up. Guess what? NO BOB BURNQUIST!!!!!!!! THIS SUCKS BALLZ. NOT EVEN BAM MARGERA!!!!! **** what were they thinking at vicariuos visions, neversoft shouldve done it like last time. Even worse, they added a fictional character called Mindy who is very lame in the story. Also, the deck editor, clothes shops, deck shops, tanning shop etc. are poorly designed. Some of the goals are just dumb, like when Rodney Mullen tells you to find Tony Alva's oldschool gaps. Rodney also says that finding them all will bring Alva back, but how? And theres only one gap in every lvl.One in every level, WTF?! The levels are big, very big, but not as big as they say they are. They lied about riding bikes too, they dont even mention it in the game. A plus is that a game shop will be happy uve wasted ur money on a sadly ported game. Another annoying part is the view!!!! Its very hard to get your aim on a rail. I think ill just get American wasteland(the actual version) when i get back to America.

Please by all means, buy it if you want a bland and boring tony hawk game experience.

sadly this hawk game is bland, boring and pointless, it's missing many elaments for instents NO MARGRA!AND NO MULLEN!and some of the goals are just plain stupid, and the storie line is painfully boring so over all this game is probably the of the hawk series [the real one "american waste land" is going to be awsome]
