4.0 out of 5 stars Excellent dancing music
My dance partner and I have performed to Farah Amira and Afrah Baladi many, many times. The tracks start out with slow, soulful saxophone music, then work their ways up to a climactic shimmy. Some of the songs sound similar to one another, but that's quite acceptable considering the calibre of Mostafa Sax's music. The music will make you dance despite yourself.

3.0 out of 5 stars The music clips are not helpful
I am positive that this CD has more potential but if the sound clips are just about the beginning Taksim rhythm, then it's bad. I need to here more than just taksim, I need the beat.

5.0 out of 5 stars Absolutelly Wonderful!, November 18, 2002

If you are looking for the slow and sensual music that seems to float like smoke on water then this is the CD for you! Almost every track starts with slow and mysterious beginning and goes through ranges of fast and intermediate paces with drums and other instruments. This is the only CD of its kind that I found (and I went through about 20 of them), definitelly do not miss it!

5.0 out of 5 stars WOW!, May 12, 2003
This review is from: Hayati : Best of Egyptian Belly Dance Music (Audio CD)
I've been belly dancing for years and I haven't seen anything like it!!!!
This album is a must buy for every belly dancer. The album is both energetic and calm, and makes you wanna belly dance.
Believe me, even if you don't know nothing about belly dancing you'll like this album.
The sounds are really exotic and sexy, in my opinion, and everyone will notice you while you belly dance... including your husband/boyfriend.
A must buy or a must burn!

Middle Eastern music fans know that the best of this type of music is exhilarating, intoxicating, at times trance-like, at others, pure adrenaline. This fine piece of work is the REAL STUFF- I only can't understand why it doesn't get the attention it deserves.

Mostapha Sax is the master of the Egyptian quartertone Saxaphone. In this CD he provides a superb collection of emotional Baladi Taxims (improvisations).

A must for every Middle Eastern Dancer! Every song is dancable.

5.0 out of 5 stars Outstanding, and the Real Thing, July 7, 2006

I have danced for 30 years, and am always in search of new authentic music. This set of recordings is outstanding. All pieces but the last are instrumental only, and quite dignified. All are danceable, and all tracks are long enough (5-12 minutes) to dance something substantial. There is no compromising of Arabic musical tradition here, no kitsch, and no infestation of Western musical devices or mannerisms. If you perform or dance for your own pleasure, or just listen, you will want this recording.

Serious Egyptian Music- danceable and it takes you away to places you've never been, you can see and feel the sand and what have you. Good CD for dancing.

1.0 out of 5 stars too much sax, April 24, 2007
By
This review is from: Hayati : Best of Egyptian Belly Dance Music (Audio CD)
I was disappointed by this CD - I found it very repetitive and the constant saxaphone grew to be more than irritating. I kept waiting to hear something other than beladi, but it never really developed any further than some quite nice beladi - it just never really got going. Good for practising beladi, that's all.
