Editorial Reviews

The great city of London has captured the imagination of artists, poets, playwrights, musicians and travelers for generations. This program features Joseph Haydn's famed "London" and "Drum Roll" symphonies. From the splendor of Buckingham palace to the majestic Westminster Abbey; from the excitement of Piccadilly Circus and Trafalgar Square to the beauty of the river Thames. Climb the Tower of London and see the glittering Crown Jewels or stroll the grounds of Hyde Park. From world-renowned museums to castle gardens, this is a trip as enduring as the music of Haydn.

On the minus side: while the amazon listing suggests that this DVD contains "Sym #4/104/103, it really has only # 104 & 103. Also on the minus side, the sound distribution is unbalanced, with [much] more coming from front[Left] than from front[Right]- especially for S 104/1st movement- for both the DD5.1 and DTS tracks. Naxos should consider re-arranging the musicians seating arrangement [as some labels appear to do] to get a wider sound field. On the plus side: the audio is clear and clean, with adequate 'presence'. The video footage is crisp, clean and well composed.
