This was not my first choice; I was looking for a recording of the Haydn cello concertos and was not happy with what I had heard from other artists and the selections available. When I found this disc though, and saw that it had two Vivaldi concerti along with the Haydn, and for the price, I decided to get it.The sound quality is excellent on this disc, and Harrell's playing, as always, is wonderful. Some have criticized his playing on the Haydn pieces as overly romantic and "showy", but that's a matter of taste. The Vivaldi selections were wonderful surprises, as I was not aware of them. For the wealth of music on this disc, the wonderful sound, and the super-bargain price, even if you own other more-preferred versions of the Haydn cello concertos, this disc is definitely worth owning.

Trouble,

This is the 2nd time I've purchased this CD & found it faulty. Both times there were so many 'skips' in so many of the pieces, it was ridiculous. Unfortunate, as the few that were OK sounded great! I will NOT try for a 3rd time.
