Hayward S166T Pro Series 16-Inch Top-Mount Pool Sand Filter

I bought this filter around June 1 to replace another old sand filter. Because I was out of town for awhile I could not install this filter right away and it was about 2 weeks after it arrived I opened the box. This filter does NOT contain a base for the filter to sit on. Because the filter has a round bottom it can't stand on it's own without a base which should have been included in the box. Ever try to stand up an egg on it's end?

The manual in the box for the filter and the manual online at Haywards internet site for the same model numbers are not the same. There seams to be a production change with this filter and the base so that the base can be used on other models as well. Either way I was in the pool business for 7 years in the past and have never seen a filter that did not contain a base that sets it upright. A base for the filter is NOT an extra item. They are either already attached by glue/tape or have someway to mount the base to the filter. Without a base this filter is usless as you can't simply bury it in the ground. At current I'm trying to get a base from Hayward but they don't seem to want to help and there reply to my email was this... "The larger base only comes with the S166T92S system". Well as I replied back I'm not talking about a "Bigger" base. I'm talking about "ANY" base. So beware that the unit I received did NOT contain a base stand (also called a skirt) for the filter to sit on and my local pool place wanted $49.99 for the base which should have been included.

Purchased to replace like filter that was about 13 years old. The other had some damage to the laterals and pressure gauge so I decided to replace the whole thing. This unit is great with everything included. Easy to install.

.20 Silica Sand not the sand at home depot filled the filter with 200 LBS. of the sand. I pulged in the pump a lot of of sand blew into my pool. now its going all to the bottom of my pool. now im going to my pool store sand getting the .20 silica sand which is 11.49 unlike 5.97 at home depot ( and the sand at home depot is not .20 silica sand it is the sand for a sand box which is much to fine and will slip thought the pump fins ) The reson i gave this pump 5 stars because it was my user error. over all it work great after i got the right sand now the pool is cristal clear.

I worked in a pool store for 3 years and saw all the problems people had with cartridge or D.E. filters so the first thing I did with the pool that came with my house was get rid of the cartridge filter for this bad boy. It works great. I used to sell Hayward equipment so thats why I went with them, other brands may be just as good but I am not familiar with them. Easy to use, cheap to run, filters very well.

This is the original sand filter that was installed with my pool 14 years ago, and it worked fabulously for 14 years, recently a small crack developed in the head of the unit, so I bought an identical unit to replace my original. It works perfectly and it's very affordable. I would recommend this filter for any medium to large residential pool. I am looking forward to another 10 - 15 years of use!

As a do it yourselfer, I always want the best I can get for the money I spend. This filter is that. Enough said.

We received our product in a very timely manner and was packed extremely well. To this point we've not exerienced any problems with this product. My only fustration is I only needed the Plastic shell and not all the other equipment but you have to purchase the entire package which I feel is silly.

I was so pleased with everything about this order! First, I ordered it on a Sunday evening when we realized the one on my pool could not be repaired. I didn't expect it to be delivered until Wednesday and it actually got there on Tuesday! That was fast!!!!!! Hayward is the the best pool product made and this sand filter just confirms that fact! It was easy to install and the fittings bit beautifully! It was up and running in no time! It has made taking care of the pool much easier! The filter works great and the the entire process of purchasing it to installing it exceeded my expectations!

I purchased this filter based upon the product manual from the Hayward Website which stated that it is rated to a maximum working pressure of 50PSI. When the filter arrived it was marked as rated at 40PSI maximum. My system operates in the 30-40PSI range and the filter top continually "blows" off from the main filter body rendering it useless. I am currently trying to work with Hayward to determine if it is a defective part or just a poor design. To date they have not resolved the issue nor been helpful. Most pool systems operate in the 10-20PSI range so perhaps this product works as advertised at that lower range.

The filter is perfect. Simple to assemble - quiet, No leaks looks good and performs. Just make sure to fill it with the right sand and with the right amount of sand. Follow the start up instructions CAREFULLY,
