Had a 2 1/2 horse power pump from Rec. Warehouse would only put out 10-12 psi and was very noise. Installed this Hayward SP1580X15 Power-Flo LX Series Pump 1-1/2 Horse Power. Putting out 15psi and very little noise from pump. Only draw back is it only has one speed HIGH. Getting ready to open pool up next week. Time will tell how well it works. I believe for the money you can not beat it, Rec. Warehouse wanted over $300. The pressure coming out of the return hose is great. Hope this helps you!

Very good name brand pump and motor. Lower price than what we found at pool supply stores in town. Easy hook up, just hook hoses and plug it in and go. Free shipping and received it in two days. Would definitely purchase again.

I bought this through Amazon, although the fulfillment was through "In the Swim". It was delivered the next day with FREE shipping. It's not a two speed, so there is no "silent" 24 hour mode, but it pumps a lot of water through your filter of choice and it's not particularly loud when doing it. When you are splashing around in the pool, you can barely hear it and even when just floating around, it is easily tuned out.

To make it more useful since this model doesn't come with a timer, pair it with a heavy duty out door timer like the Intermatic HB31R All Weather Outdoor Timer, which can be found here for about $15. Don't buy a timer that is electronic, because they are more expensive and if the power disconnects, the on/off settings will reset when the power is restored. BTW, locally this same pump costs about $250-300, so it's a great deal, especially with the quick free shipping!

At the end of the season my old Hayward pump of 15 years just stopped working. I knew after 15 years of working that it was on borrowed time so it came as no surprise when it just stopped! I was so happy with the Hayward brand that I knew I wanted to purchase that brand again. I started to price them at local pool stores. They were priced at $309 and $299. Then I found another brand at another pool store for :$199 but I really didn't want to try a new brand that I had never heard of before. So I went online to read some reviews about this new brand. When I did a google search I found the exact same Hayward pump that I really wanted on Amazon com and it was only $139 with no shipping cost!s I was really worried that there was going to be a reason that this was so much less. But it was delivered in less than a week and was exactly the same as the one that I had bought 15 years ago! If I can get even 10 years out of this new pump I will be very happy!!

This pump has plenty of power attached to a sand filter for my 13,000 gallon above ground pool.Only problem is it has no on-off switch and you have to plug and unplug it to turn it on and off. The top comes off easily for cleaning the filter basket. Was simple to install to my filtering system. Durability - I run it nearly every other day for 3-4 hours and no problems so far- 4 months.

July 23,2011 - It is now 1 year later and my pump is still running strong. I would definitely recommend this pump.

Our old pump went out and we needed a new one quick. The Hayward SP1580 has been great, works much better and quieter than our old pump and definitely worth every penny! I paid quite a bit extra to get overnight shipping, but even with the extra $$ for overnight shipping it was still less expensive than the best price I found online at any other website. So glad I found this on Amazon.com my kids are enjoying a nice clean pool for the summer!

This pump is working like a champ. I highly recommend. Have owned above ground pools for over 20 years, so I have lots of experience. I ordered it on a Tuesday morning and received it on Thursday, with no special delivery order. Don't even hesitate, you will not find a better deal than this.

This 1.5HP pump is replacing our old broken 1.5HP 220V 2inch pipes upstream 1.5inch pipe downstream.

"The Swim Pool Supplies" online store from whom I bought this pump say 30 days money back Guaranty. OK We would have to pay for the shipping cost if we were to return it though. This could have been expensive since the pump is still 26LB but still I took the risk.

Now if you think I am going to return this pump, NO WAY! IT IS MINE!


Very Quiet and very powerful (probably more powerful than our old pump) and so easy to install and hook up. (I have to re-pipe the upstream pipe because it was 2 inches while this pump accept 1 and 1/2 upstream and down stream pipe but that was not a big deal. The down stream pipe was already 1 and 1/2 so no need to re-pipe this part That was my only issue not related to the pump itself or the store.)

Now when you have 220 power you are using both phase of the transformer meaning that the old pump was using two live wire (Black) + ground. I rewired it using one black live and one neutral instead capping the other neutral and live wire and rewiring to the ground. The circuit breaker on each of the phase is 20A. This is plenty since the motor of this pump is rated as 12A. Make sure your are having at least 15A available otherwise the circuit breaker my trip all the time. Also for added safety I added a 20A GFI plug into the battle.

My electric bill went down substantially even though this pump is not a two speeds. My previous pump was probably very energy inefficient compare to this one.

At this price $149 with free shipping at "The Swim Pool Supplies" it is a massive deal!

I don't know how reliable is this pump though Hayward has a good reputation.

I purchased a Hayward SP1580X15 Pool Pump. I received it three days after I ordered it. It works great, but I did have a problem that apparently occurred during shipping. This item was placed in an over-sized box and was extremely heavy on one end. The UPS guy that delivered it had even warned me to be careful because it could easily be dropped because of this imbalance. I immediately opened the box to find the strainer basket that is attached to the pump (and made of plastic) shattered. Luckily I had an old one that fit perfect as I did not want to go through the hassle of returning the item. Bought this as a replacement motor for our 5 yr old Hayward Filter. The pump is very quiet, and fit my old unit perfectly. I was a little concerned that my old pump had a horizontal discharge, and the picture for this one was vertical. All I had to do was loosen the 4 bolts at the rear of the pump, and I was able to rotate the discharge to the location I needed it to be.
