Replaced our old worn out 1hp pump with this one. We used to have so many issues with keeping chemistry in check and algae in our pool. I always suspected that the pump was too small/didn't move enough water. It was installed when we bought our house. This pump has made a huge differnce. We used to run the old pump 24/7 and it couldn't do what this pump doees in less than half the time. We run it 10hrs. per day. 10am-8pm and have beautiful crystal clear water in our 18x33x48" above ground pool. 15-16000 gallons.

I ordered this pump because of its reputation for dependability and overall performance. Actually, the first pump that was recieved came slightly damaged, but Amazon sent another BEFORE I returned it. Very impressed with pump, easy set up, self priming, on/off switch is appreciated. As far as Amazon goes, they're still the one!

Hayward stands up to its name! Love this pump, I bought a 1 1/2hp I have no algae in my pool this year. Only con, it could be more quiet. It does the job so what can I say! Cant beat the price! Matrix Powerflow yeahhhhhh!

I can't believe it ... have used Hayward equipment for years. Have only gone through 2 Hayward pumps since 1995 ...

***This PowerFlo Matrix stopped working after 3 weeks.*** Started to have problems switching it on 3 days before it wouldn't turn on at all. Went to Hayward's Web site for warranty repair information and **couldn't find any** and there is no phone number anywhere to even call them; contacted the "authorized repair" dealer listed on Hayward's site that was nearest me and they were rude and refused to fix the pump and said, and I quote "what's in it for me? I don't get any money for fixing something you bought on the Internet." I am not kidding. I contacted another "authorized repair" dealer who said he would fix it, but it's still sitting in his shop. So the warranty is rather a joke, since my pool is now congealing and any day now the mosquito larvae will start swimming around in hoards in the water.

I couldn't even find a phone number to call Hayward anywhere on the instruction manual or on their Web site. Their "Contact Us" page is headlined "We're Here for You" and yet there is absolutely no phone number whatsoever to be found anywhere on their Web site to call them. I should have visited their site before buying because this is a HUGE warning flag. Any reputable business that stands behind their product will provide a contact phone number.

I suppose I could try to contact them via their "Contact Us" form and try to send it back for repairs ... and pay for shipping ... and it will take weeks ... and in the meantime I am forced to buy another pump because my pool can't sit without the water being circulated and filtered.

***UPDATE***: I did use the "Contact Us" form to contact Hayward. I was thrilled when I got a response very early the next morning apologizing for the problem and telling me to contact the vendor (I bought the pump via Amazon from In the Swim) and they would immediately ship me a new pump. To both Hayward's and In the Swim's credit, that's exactly what they did. Scott at Hayward provided me with Hayward's phone number and also cleared the way for In the Swim to ship me a new pump. It is supposed to arrive within 1 to 4 business days. I should have contacted Hayward sooner because it's possible my pool will have to sit through another weekend with no pump or filtration.

So I upgraded my review from 1 star to 3 stars; the pump was absolutely fantastic while it worked - but it should not have broken down after only three weeks of use. I hope the replacement pump lasts me for the years that my previous Hayward pumps have. But I have to say that the customer service I received from Hayward, once I contacted them via their Web form, was superlative, as was In the Swim's.

We were very happy with this Hayward pool pump motor. We were nervous about purchasing a pool pump on-line, but have no fear, it was the best thing we could have done. We saved close to $100.00 by doing this. The pool pump works perfectly and we have no issues at all with it. It was delivered promptly and has been working great!!!

I did my research and chose to down grade my broken 1.5Hp pump with the Hayward Power-Flo Matrix. Why did I go with this model? Mainly because of the basket cover. Most of the other models I have seen have top side compression nuts, screws, butterflys, etc. With this model it spins on and locks in compressing an o-ring, not a gasket. Well having said all that, I no longer problems with air getting into the lines, and it has plenty of power for my 12,000gal pool. I wouldn't say that I have saved any money in my electric bill, however there are many factors that go into that calculation. What I would say is that at Amazon the price was great and that it has performed exceptionally for the season.

great pump! I love the on/off switch on pump instead of having to unplug pump to turn off.

This pump works very well, however a couple of issues I had when I recieved it were that it came with a 3 prung plug instead of the standard 4 twist lock plug so I had to swap cords out. The direction to move the discharge 45 degress is lacking when it tells you to push the bottom and rotate the houseing. The "button" is diffecult to find and not really a button at all but a small tab that isn't mark or clearly visable.

What a great pool pump with SUPER FAST delivery, I ordered it in the afternoon and it arrive the NEXT AFTERNOON - WOW.
I don't know why others complain about noise? it is a pool pump they are not silent running at least at these low prices. This 1 1/2hp pump was purchased to replace a Hayward Matrix 3/4hp pump that only lasted 2 years and what a difference in power, our automatic pool vac is scooting around cleaning the pool in record time now. I like the large debris basket and the clear lids on the matrix series that makes maintenance easier. I just hope this one lasts longer than the previous matrix pump it replaced.

The pump works great, but the top did not fit and I had to use the old top from the pump I was replacing.
