Editorial Reviews

The First Night: Battlefield of Confusion - Makoto Mizuhara, earnest and good hearted, constantly endures the succession of plots generated by Katsuhiko Jinnai, a paranoid egomaniac who also happens to be Makoto's high school rival. Late one night, after the discovery of mysterious ruins beneath the school, Jinnai's sister, Nanami makes a quick buck selling refreshments to the teacher guarding the ruins, the lovable rogue Mr. Fujisawa. However, when Jinnai attempts to lure Makoto to the school as part of another plot, a mysterious woman awakens within the ruins and announces to Makoto that she has been waiting for him for centuries! Before Makoto can begin to comprehend, she opens a dimensional door that flings Makoto, Jinnai, Nanami, and Mr. Fujisawa into a strange new world - the Magnificent World of El Hazard!

This review is from: El Hazard The Magnificent World: Battlefield of Confusion [VHS] (VHS Tape)
When being chased by his raving, power-hungry lunatic of a classmate, Katsuhiko Jinnai, Shinonome High School student Makoto Mizuhara finds that time suddenly seems to have stopped for him. Following a strange urging in his mind, he goes to where some ancient ruins had been uncovered underneath his school. Inside the ruin, strange lights appear and a beautiful woman emerges. She seems to know him well, and after thouroughly confusing Makoto, she sends him and three others who were nearby to the alternate world of El Hazard. Once there, they find trials, danger, fun and love. Even when the entire world is threatened by a weapon of unfathomable power, the circle which binds Makoto to his one true love is completed.

This story is widely regarded as a classic among anime fans and truly deserves its reputation as a classic. With excellent animation, many hilarious scenes, plenty of action and excellent, *realistic*, characters, El Hazard is a timeless work.

This is the first of four tapes, containing the very first episode of this classic series.

If you are looking for an Anime with more than just the standard plot, one that truly stands above the rest, then give this a look. Let your imagination have fun and you won't be dissapointed.

^_^
