5.0 out of 5 stars Legendary Crossover Thrash, September 21, 2006
This review is from: Hazardous Mutation (Audio CD)
Municipal Waste capture the sound of late 80s crossover in a superbly effortless fashion and combine it with their own originally juvenile sense of humour that is relentless on tracks such as 'Abusement Park' or 'The Thrashin' Of The Christ'. The album sprawls over 16 tracks that each nail the vibes of the 80s yet shine with a contemporary energy and appeal that make Municipal Waste stand out from the crowd.

4.0 out of 5 stars re-enter the thrash zone, October 19, 2005

I can't say I was prepared for the unwarranted assault that was bestowed upon me when I popped this in. Its albums like this that come along every once in a while that really helps keep a smile on my face. First of all, this is crossover thrash that I haven't heard (or heard done this well) since the late 80's. Too much of it crossed over completely into metal or just went the way of the dinosaur and became played out because too many bands were flooding the market with it. But something about The Waste keeps me stimulated. Hazardous Mutation is a smart, pounding, faster than a speeding bullet attack on the senses that leaves you with a sore neck from whipping your head around in a frenzy. Unlike other modern outfits amidst this genre, MW leaves nothing left to be desired. They play the fast and heavy, with a lot of tongue in cheek lyrics, yet they're still extremely pissed. Very S.O.D.-esque in a way. Don't skip on this. Its also a good start if you're just getting into them. Get this then work backwards and get your hands on Waste 'Em All. Another solid release that will leave you rooting through your attic in hopes of finding that denim vest with all the Venom and Napalm Death patches on it that you had back in 1986.

5.0 out of 5 stars Reviving 80's Crossover, March 11, 2007
This review is from: Hazardous Mutation (Audio CD)
Enjoy the mix of energetic hardcore punk with the attitude of metal? Look no further, people. Municipal Waste is bringing back the spark that bands like Nuclear Assault, 80's Corrosion of Conformity, and D.R.I. have been given respect for. This is a refresher amongst today's music scene. It may even bring you back 20 years from now! I recommend.

5.0 out of 5 stars Unleash (...)!!!, March 2, 2006

These guys are keeping the crossover flame burning. They sound a lot like D.R.I., Crumbsuckers, Cryptic Slaughter, Ludichrist, Wehrmacht etc. This whole album is just nonstop thrash from beginning to end. You never get a moment to breath. As soon as one song is over the other immediatly starts and they only play at one speed, ridiculously fast. They also have very cool lyrics and song titles like Bangover which is about how you feel the day after a crazy thrash show and Abusement Park which is about a seemingly innocent looking amusement park which is actually evil. And of course they carry on with their Kurt Russel obssession with The Thing. So if you are into extremely fast metal or punk you should by this masterpiece.

5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing!!! Buy this!!!, October 15, 2005
This review is from: Hazardous Mutation (Audio CD)
Dude, what year is it??? This album sounds like these dudes went back in time to 1986, hung out with C.O.C., Suicidal Tendencies and Nuclear Assault and stole a bunch of ideas-which is AWESOME!!! Everything from the sound, to the beautiful/sick album cover (dude, Ed Repka!!!)-rad. Any fan of "crossover" thrash will love this. Throw drummer Dave Witte into the mix (human remains, burnt by the sun, melt banana), and you have the recipe for a classic, which this most definitely is. Get drunk, thrash, and enjoy the "bangover".

5.0 out of 5 stars Thrash? Don't Mind If I Do!, March 27, 2007
I've been all over this band from the first self titled 7" to the killer split with Crucial Unit to Waste 'Em All and Now to Hazardous Mutation. To go back for a second, I have to say one of my personal favorites is a split with bad acid trip called the, "Tango and Thrash" split 7" record. The Tango and thrash split is in reference to, "Tango and Cash" the movie with Kurt Russel and Stalone...anyway from the killer thrash to the many Kurt Russel movie samples scattered throughout their side of this split, it shreds! On to Hazardous Mutation, it shreds from beginning to end with the killer 80's to early 90's influenced thrash I have come to expect from Municipal Waste, and I haven't been dissapointed yet! If you remember the days of bands like Violence, Exodus, Nuclear Assault, Kreator, Attitude Adjustment, Heresy etc..... check these guys out for a new and original spin on what is a true representation of mind melting, blistering thrash! Not to mention, Hazardous Mutation features Dave Witte on drums. Speaking of Dave Witte, check out a band named, "Discordance Axis" for some killer Grindcore with Dave on drums.

5.0 out of 5 stars Energetic, fun, THRASH!, August 11, 2006
This review is from: Hazardous Mutation (Audio CD)
This is an extremely energetic group of musicians who know how to play this kind of music with endless fervor. From the first time I heard Unleash The Bastards, I knew that these guys were dead set on bringing back the glory days of old school thrash...and getting trashed in the progress. The standout tracks for me are the instant classic "Unleash The Bastards"(one of the more serious songs on the album), the ultra-catchy "Terror Shark", and the chronicle of the hard-partying headbangers that are The Waste's fanbase "Bangover".UNLEASH THE BASTARDS NOW!

4.0 out of 5 stars Aye, cap'n !, May 27, 2006
This review is from: Hazardous Mutation (Audio CD)
The other reviews tell it - fury with chops and goodly humour in this crossover goodness, harks back to classic days but sounds most fresh. You should like it.
Sample from 'Fright Night' if I'm not mistaken.
