Book Description

This isn't a deep book about first loves or self-discovery. If you want a book like that, I'd be happy to recommend one, but I don't have that kind of story to tell. Instead my story is about rash decisions and finding out that your dream guy is bad in bed. It's the story of when I finally went skinny dipping, and how my life was never the same again. Oh, and it's also the story of my freshman year of college and realizing Mr. Right might have been there all along.

*New Adult Romance*

Other books in the Hazards Series

- The Hazards of a One Night Stand

- The Hazards of Sex on the Beach

5.0 out of 5 stars a fun, quirky, adorable read May 20, 2013
By Amie
Format:Kindle Edition
One word: Hilarious >.< Seriously this book is really fun and entertaining. I finished it in one sitting and now I want to reread it again. It's really fast paced that you will breeze through in no time. Like the synopsis said this is not a first love story or self discovery so don't take it too serious, just sit back and enjoy the story. It's a light read and a perfect book for summer. Reading this book made me kind of miss college even though I am sure mine was not that fun. And it was not like we were having party every week or all that frat house thingies. Maybe it was, I didn't know since I didn't live in the dorm and the midterm and final weeks were hell that I'm sure of.

I really enjoyed the characters and their development. It just felt so real and their conversation made me laugh out loud so many times. And I was glad that I did not read this book in public or they would think I was crazy because I couldn't stop laughing and grinning. The love came naturally and I knew what Juliet meant when she said "it just feels right." Yup when the right one comes along, you will know it because of the FEEL like the puzzle is solved.

So if you guys are on the hunt for a fun, quirky, adorable read then do not look any further =)

5.0 out of 5 stars Hot Summer Read!! May 23, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Did I mention I loved this book? Well I just finished, and it was a great read that will make you want to fall in love with Reed and Juliet. The main reason for Skinny dipping and the list was her cousin Amy who wanted Juliet to have fun before she went to college. It was one heck of a ride because that storyline was throwing you for a loop from the beginning. If you like fun, and a fresh new read this book has it all right from the start!! The cover is what caught my attention as well as the summary and it did not disappoint. Alyssa did a great job with her characters and writing styles.

Juliet is about to start her first year at college, as summer is near its ending Juliet listens to her cousin Amy suggestions to skinny dip in the pool at her grandparents beach house, then when she thought no one will be there, until her crush Dylan comes. Soon after that things for sure were not how she expected them to turn out. I really liked Juliet as a character because she is confident and also didn't expect love to find her. The book really begins with her going to college and she dates Dylan who treats her like he owns her, while Juliet just wants to end it, but she she realizes that he is not the tight one for her. Dylan is a character I really disliked. Juliet is the sarcastic, and witty character with an attitude, which makes her a really rounded as a main character.

Juliet then meets Reed who she first meets at a Laser Tag match and later cleans his sorority. They have an instant connection. Reed is charismatic, and really pays attention to Juliet. I knew from the beginning he would be the right one when you first meet him. I loved him!!Watching this relationship finally unfolding is what makes me happy! Reed is definitely a man you want to read about, and the fireworks between them means real chemistry! Overall it was a fun summer read and will make you laugh and believe you will find your true love.

1.0 out of 5 stars Missing something June 12, 2013
By Karina
Format:Kindle Edition
The book was missing emotion. I thought it all to be in a monotone voice. Yes, exciting things happened but I didn't get excited with the characters, I felt that feelings were missing.
Not only that but the book had different characters and then they suddenly disappeared. The author made it look as if some characters were important to the story but at the end, I only read about them at the beginning and then I never heard from them again. Or certain aspects and relationships of the characters made no sense.

2.0 out of 5 stars Lacking in almost everything May 26, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
The book was so painfully simple. The plot was simple, the writing was simple, the characters were simple. Juliet is your average freshman in college: insecure about everything, so why not let an egotistical, manipulative upperclassman get into your pants every night? Dylan, the egomaniac, was flat, annoying, and apparently really not good in bed, as the author liked to point out every other page. The believability of all Ivy's characters was laughable. The only character I remotely liked was Reed, and that's a stretch. The switch from friendship to relationship between Reed and Juliet is so rushed and awkward and just plain unrealistic that it was by then I knew this book could never recover. We all knew Reed and Juliet would be together eventually, so what exactly is the point in banging them together (literally) as soon as Juliet is free from Dylan? Why can't there just be that slow climb that all these "New Adult" books seemingly lack? Why can't there just be some development? Ivy throws in hurdles in all the wrong places, but even then there isn't any development between the main characters, only that they have "always loved them and always will." Aww... I could make a whole novel about all the cliches that are used in this book. However, to be fair, these cliches are present in almost every other book of its kind. Which is sad.

5.0 out of 5 stars Light-hearted and Deep... May 26, 2013
By Cori
Format:Paperback
I'm not entirely sure what I was expecting when deciding to read the Hazards of Skinny Dipping by Alyssa Rose Ivy, but whatever it was, this was a million times better! I love all of Ivy's books, this isn't a surprise, she writes extremely well and the characters she develops in her novels are so real that you can't help but love them.

That being said, The Hazards of Skinny Dipping might actually be my all-time favorite book from her that I've read thus far. I cannot get over how utterly amazing this book was. The Hazards of Skinny Dipping follows Juliet who is starting her freshmen year of college in a few weeks, but according to her cousin Amy, there are some things she needs to do before starting classes, like skinny dipping.

What Juliet doesn't know is that the guy she's been obsessing over forever is going to catch her and things after that, well they get a little crazy. I loved this book, did I mention that? Like I full out love it and want to draw pink fluffy hearts around everyone, well except for three people. When I dislike a character, I really dislike them. I'm not a half-assing it kind of a person. The fact that I wanted to poke them (or possibly push them down some stairs) just shows what an amazing writer Ivy is.

I think Juliet is awesome. She's definitely someone I would get along with. She's snarky (my favorite thing), independent, mildly insecure (but who isn't) and adventures though I know she doesn't think she is. There were a few times I wanted to throttle her, but she eventually came to her sense and we were cool again. Haha you like how I worked that word in there, cool. I also have to mention I love her relationship with her cousin Amy, and the emails they share through chapters.

I was not a fan of Dylan.
