Book Description

Orchard Black Apple S. June 3, 2004
This is the funny, funky story of Hazel Anne Mooney, told by the girl herself. Hazel is fourteen, smart, funny and fed up. How could anyone whose initials spell HAM, who only manages set one at school for English and Food Tech and who, let's face it, is far from model-girl slim, be anything but fed up? But Hazel's tormentor, the gorgeous, glamorous, all-achieving Lauren Stevenson, class bitch and bully, is about to fall apart under the pressure to stay pencil-thin. And when the conflict between the two girls comes to a head, the outcome takes everyone by surprise, especially Hazel!

3.0 out of 5 stars Good book dealing with a recurring theme: peer pressure about weight, December 27, 2005
This review is from: Hazel (Orchard Black Apple S.) (Paperback)
This book is about a girl named Hazel who is overweight and finds herself constantly teased and nade fun of,even bullied by one popular girl Lauren. However we find out later on that Lauren has her own problems...
A good, well written story that I enjoyed, even if the theme wasn't very original. It still delivers a good message about weight problems and the pressure to be thin but what really is important is who you are.
