A word of caution...,
By Summer Brigman (Everywhere) - See all my reviews
This review is from: He Came To Set The Captives Free (Paperback)
This book is true and I don't have to know the author personally to know this but because of my own spiritual battles and the parallels between what I have seen and what is in this book. Thankfully my own experiences were not as dramatic as Elaine's because I turned my back on the occult before my involvement became too deep. satan and demons do exist but so does God, Jesus, Holy Spirit & all the heavenly angels!!!! Its simply a matter of whose side are you on & whether we like it or not we are on a side, there is no neutral territory...
and I would like to strongly caution every single person who assumes they completely understand the innermost functioning of the spiritual realm around us by saying the events such as the ones in this book are bogus and do not happen, to from this moment forward stay silent if you do not know the 100% validity of what you are saying. More goes on in the natural realm, the spiritual realm & the intermingling of the two then one could ever know. Here are my credentials: tortured almost every single night from the 7th grade till after I graduated High School by demonic forces because of my occult involvement...only since giving my life over to God have I had the power of victory through Christ. Since then I still battle witches and demons but they have no power of me. Why?? because I know how to battle them. And I am deeply saddened by those would rather live in ignorance of the reality of the kingdom of darkness and its affect on our daily lives if we allow it, regardless of the name you stamp on it to make yourself feel better. I pray you come to the truth of the world we live in, but until then I advise you to be careful about what & who you speak out against. I am honestly saying this out of love to everyone who reads this, you are putting yourself in a dangerous position by speaking out against the truth of the matter & by leading other people away from the reality of what goes on in this world. Many many people get raped, tortured & killed by demons and those in the occult...and Satan loves that millions of God's children refuse to believe this and as a result there are millions of people crying out for help, freedom & deliverance from the grips of the kingdom of darkness and those with the answer are staring at them point blank in the face telling them such things and events don't exist... Peace & Blessings

This book is NOT fiction !!!,
By A Customer
This review is from: He Came To Set The Captives Free (Paperback)
This book came into my life after a year of being harassed by evil. I was NOT into the occult, but moved into a house previously owned by those that were. I did not know Jesus Christ at the time, nor did I fully believe in the Holy Bible. Our Lord sent a friend into my life to tell me about the awesome power Jesus has over Satan and his demons. She bought me a bible and I began reading it. They attacked me ten times worse! I was terrified. (Satan uses fear to keep you from the truth) Later, my friend handed me Rebecca Brown's book. I sat and cried as I read it. She wrote many many things I was living EVERYDAY! These people that call it fiction, I pray you will never be attacked as I was.....because you will change your attitude. The Lord used this experience not only to show me I was "wrong" in my beliefs, but also to train me how to be a warrior for Christ. Rebecca's attacks during her book were due to training experience, and if you read them all, you will see that she learned well from the Lord. Some comments state she made up things as she went along, and some in the craft state she has it all wrong. The way some occultists practice are different from others. Satan uses a method that will work for you. There are no two people alike. Those that oppose this the most I have to question why? Has she hit on something that woke you up to the truth? Some are saying that the werewolves she talked about are false. How do you know that? I've read many other books by ex-occultists that said werewolves are used for extreme discipline. After what I experienced myself with evil spirits, I will NOT say that Rebecca Brown's book is a fraud. The truth is always attacked by those that are against it. Take the Holy Bible for instance. I used to "attack" it myself....because I was ignorant of the truth and didn't care to find out at that time. The Lord made sure I found out, and let me tell you folks.......Jesus is LORD. Those of you reading this that are in the occult....ask yourself why Jesus is the only one hated by you? Why isn't Mohammed, Buddha, or Krishna hated? Why is Jesus mocked and called the deceiver in hard rock? No other name is mocked by those in the occult. Ironically......that is the very name that can save them from the life of fear. You know longer have to watch your back in fear of those in your own kingdom. The kingdom of Christ is peace, love, and joy. His burden is light, and He became a WILLING sacrifice for you. Do you know anyone else that would do that? I urge others to read Rebecca Brown's book. Through her experiences and the Lord leading her to write it.. ...I was set free from a previous curse that made me think I'd lost my mind. Now I've read hundreds of testimonies like mine. The church is waking up. It's about time.

PERSONAL EXPERIENCE TELLS ME THIS BOOK IS EFFECTIVE!!,
By A Customer
This review is from: He Came To Set The Captives Free (Paperback)
We had a lady come to our church having suffered from SRA (satanic ritual abuse). She was possessed by at least 9 demons, and plagued with mental problems resulting from their influence on her mind. This is only one of many incidences that have occured since we became more equipped. I had no idea how to help her and others truly find freedom until I read this book. I'M A CONSERVATIVE PASTOR, IN A CONSERVATIVE CHURCH, IN A CONSERVATIVE TOWN, IN A CONSERVATIVE DENOMINATION. This kind of material in not what I usually read! However, I'm also very practical. If it works and squares up firmly with the written scriptures of God, then I want it. This book helped us to deal with situations that my seminary classes did not prepare me for. And what is most impressive with Dr. Brown's book is this - it actually works. I know from personal experience that these tools are Bible-based and effective. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS BOOK TO ANYONE WHO BELIEVES THAT CHRIST TRULY WANTS TO SET FREE THOSE HELP CAPTIVE BY THE ENEMY.

Not a credible account -- beware,
By moviemusicbuff (Walnut, CA United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: He Came To Set The Captives Free (Paperback)
I have read this book several times and have written to the author to get her story as well. The author's real name is Ruth Bailey, who had her medical license revoked in the state of Indiana. She also got in trouble with the medical board for giving her patients an unusually high dose of Demerol, for having delusions about patients suffering from demonic oppression, and for repeatedly misdiagnosing her patients. (All these findings have been documented by Bob and Gretchen Passantino and researcher John Baskette in the Answers in Action website, along with investigative research by Rev. G. Richard Fisher and other pastors, and Pastor Charles Younts. These are people who have done their research and spoken to the authors in person. Just Google: Rebecca Brown or Ruth Bailey and you'll find these links).
I am in no way a Satanist (but a born-again believer in Christ who is vehemently opposed to Satanism). The author claims that her account is factual, and it is important for readers to determine whether her findings are factual and to discern truth from error. After doing research on her background and reading through her book, I came to the conclusion that much of what she wrote is fabricated. Reviewers, be careful not to label any dissenters as Satanists unless you have done your research on this author. I have read numerous credible accounts on Satanism and would highly recommend books by Clinton Arnold on demons and spiritual warfare. Bob and Gretchen Passantino has also written a carefully researched guide on Satanism. One of the best studies on Satan and demons is the book Powers of Evil by Sydney Page. C. Fred Dickason has written some excellent works on angels and demon-possession. These authors are much more credible sources. I agree with the other reviewers who have so eloquently described the inconsistencies and delusional accounts described in this book. "Rebecca Brown" describes personal encounters with Satan, her encounters with werewolves, etc. Some of these claims are very hard to believe. Those who have done research on the real "Elaine" have discovered that she has been prone to fabricating stories to get attention. The Bible tells us to "test all things; hold fast to what is good. Avoid every kind of evil" (1 Thess. 5: 21 NKJV). That is very good advice to heed. Carefully do your own research on the author and her claims. The good book tells us to be wise and discerning about truth and error. The Bible warns, "A false witness will not go unpunished, and he who tells lies will not escape" (Prov. 19:5).

A Skeptic's Changed View,
By A Customer
This review is from: He Came To Set The Captives Free (Paperback)
I have read the book, and all of the "reviews". I wish to say that I am an American evangelical Christian who used to believe that "all that demonic stuff" in the Gospels and NT happened a long time ago, or on foreign mission fields today. Until I met a person who had been Satanically ritually abused, that is. Many of the things Rebecca describes in the book are eerily the same as the experiences I have had over the past 8 months. I am trying to understand and follow Jesus Christ throughout this trial. My experience resonates with so many of the readers' comments, particularly anointing my home after repeated demonic harrassment and declaring in the name of Jesus Christ null and void all curses and incantations coming against me. I find the writing style hard to wade through, and some of the Biblical interpretation weak. However, I have a convinced mind that much of what Rebecca writes is the truth. One thing I find notable is her repeated admonitions to test what she writes by asking our heavenly Father to confirm or refute it. Once you have witnessed first-hand the attacks that she describes, your "worldview" is never the same. I have not seen everything she describes, but I am certain of these things: demonization of believers and non-believers , child sacrifice, and astral projection. The two things I've learned which have helped me the most are: 1) Satan is a liar, and always seeks to deceive -- I was one of his victims for awhile (please read the "anti" reviews with that in mind;) and 2) Jesus is LORD! There is victory in Jesus. The only weapon Satan has is FEAR, but brothers and sisters, focus on JESUS. He will come to you as you seek Him! I have never rejoiced more that OUR GOD REIGNS!

Captivating,
By A Customer
This review is from: He Came To Set The Captives Free (Paperback)
He Came to Set the Captives Free, and Ruth Irene Bailey (alias Rebecca Brown) came to captivate. So mesmerized was my mother by this book, that she immediately began what would be fifteen years as a Prayer Warrior, a woman that, by her supreme faith in God and "Rebecca Brown" would spend up to four hours a day "standing in the gap" and binding the forces of darkness. One expectation of being "in the gap" is that one's physical health may go through the warfare that one's spirit body battles... "You know you are, or have been, in the gap only when the Lord reveals it to you, or by the various problems in your physical body, which the Lord will confirm to you is from what has happened to your spirit body in the gap." (He Came to Set the Captives Free p. 180) This alone would have prompted my mother to give a five star review of the book for its telling accuracy. My mother is unable to write a review because one month ago she died of neglected breast cancer that had spread throughout the bones of her entire body. She refused medical treatment, fearing it would interfere with her prayer time, and because, like "Rebecca Brown", she did not trust physicians, family, or friends. "Rebecca Brown" was my mother's mentor. My mother did not die a martyr for her faith in God, she died a human being for her faith in another human being's disillusioned interpretation of Christianity.

THE TRUTH ABOUT REBECCA'S MESSAGE,
By Becks (uk) - See all my reviews
This review is from: He Came To Set The Captives Free (Paperback)
I am a young 24 year old woman from a highly concentrated christian family. I mention this because I have personally experienced spiritual warefar in my life and when I read Rebecca's book, backed by scriptures, I can only say one thing. Destroy Rebecca's character however u may, the truth is the truth and all she says is valid. Every mature christian knows that in times of trials, where Satan has his eye on you, practically EVERYONE will turn against you, including true men of God. (Take Jesus Christ, take Job). God allows it for the specific purpose of the person being attacked coming to the realization that they cannot depend on man and they must put ALL their trust in God. So if every pastor on this earth discredited this book, that is between them and God and their lack of knowledge. Besides, false prophets are ever on the rise.
Satan is SO real. And about those reviews not believing in 'werewolves', etc, where on earth do u think all these 'fictional creatures' originated from. Humans. So naive without Jesus Christ. At the end of the day, don't read this book unless u are strong in God. And please, pray for the Holy-Spirit to convict u of the book, whether its true or not. And for all those Satanists and agents of darkness invading these pages to post reviews detrimental to the souls of men, I hold the Precious Blood of Jesus against you. May the Holy-Ghost fire of God destroy your every evil work and expose u for what u are. Jesus is Lord to the Glory of God the Father. Lord Jesus, I cover all my sisters and brothers in Christ in the precious blood of Jesus. Keep us from evil and strengthen us as warriors in your army to fight the good fight of faith. Victory in Jesus Christ, son of the Most High God. Forever and Ever. Jesus LOVES u.

Will Change the Way You Look At The World,
By Missme "Missme" (Providence, RI) - See all my reviews
This review is from: He Came To Set The Captives Free (Paperback)
This book was banned in my NYC "Mega Church." The reason for that is that too many people will not know what to do with this information, or even how to handle it. It's simple to dismiss what is written as fantasy or a pack of lies. I've walked with Christ and had MANY supernatural experiences in my life (which people typically dismiss as well) I believe this account.
I would caution anyone reading this book to do so very PRAYERFULLY. I would also caution anyone who has dealt with Mental illness, have ever used Hallucinogens, Under the age of 21 or has an Active imagination NOT to read this book. Do not let curiosity get the best of you. However if you have had supernatural experiences, suffer from generational curses or have family members or loved ones who have opened doors from the occult, this book will help you learn to close them. Having said that, I would never tell anyone what to make of it this... Granted this is hard to believe if you have no experience with these things. What I will say that is that life, death, spirituality and even reality exist on a much further sphere than we perceive with our natural minds.

See The Bigger Picture!,
This review is from: He Came To Set The Captives Free (Paperback)
It has been a while since I read this. I have mixed feelings about this book. Many of Rebecca Brown's Bible texts concerning the soul and spirit are misinterpreted and other's meanings are stretched to make her point. Nevertheless, I feel that God can use anyone to get a certain message across regardless of where we are spiritually. I feel that in this book, Rebecca Brown does have a point to make that many seem to ignore: Satan is alive and active in the world today.Satanism is something that many seem to poo-poo and cover over with skepticism. Unfortunately, they close their eyes to the fact that there could be some people who approach satanism in a very serious way. And it could be anyone, be he a doctor or just a crackpot fringe-occultist. And also that it can be a VERY organized religion. Satan's biggest tool in deceiving the human race is to make people believe that he and his devoted followers do not exist. Some of Brown's stories do seem farfetched and may need to be taken with a grain of salt that's true, but she brings us to an awareness of the bigger picture: Satanism does exist, people do commit sacrifices and ritualistic crimes in his name, it is larger and more organized than people think, and that there is a spiritual realm that does exist beyond our world. A place where warfare is going on constantly. And occasionally, it is made aware to our senses. Christ and his disciples had much contact with the demonic/angelic plane. It is biblical. Ultimately you will have to make up your own mind on the validity of this book, just don't throw out the baby with the bathwater!

I bought this book several years ago but never got further than 30 pages...something was nagging me (the Holy Spirit) that kept saying is this truth? I finally picked it up again last week to start reading and just couldn't get into it until I found out who the auther was. I did some research on Rebecca Brown (Ruth Irene Bailey ) and elaine (Edna Elaine Moses, a/k/a Elaine Moses, a/k/a Elaine Bailey (hereinafter collectively referred to as "Edna Elaine Moses"),
and found out several things about each. I really encourage you to do some research on these women (elaine died a few years ago). Read about their history. I agree with the review by A. Daniels Jr. "artscholar. But just want to add that the things in the book are not all truth. Do your research! By the way....the book I have now is in the trash and will be thrown away. http://answers.org/satan/brown.html http://www.pfo.org/ |
