5.0 out of 5 stars One of Twila's best
I would have written this review anyway, but I just had to respond to the review by "Ice Man." It seems like we must have listened to two different albums because my opinion of "He is Exalted" is the exact opposite. Just listen to "Days of Elijah" and you'll see that Twila is not bored. "Days" is full of energy and power. Other great upbeat songs on the CD include...

2.0 out of 5 stars Twila sounds bored............UPDATED
Margie: Yes, I listened to this and she sounds BORED!
Get it through your thick skull, she (twila)is jumping on the worship bandwagon trying to generate a college fund.

First off, do we really need another "worship" CD from ANYONE?
Enough already!

That being said, I am a HUGE TP fan but this release leaves me wanting more. I have...

5.0 out of 5 stars One of Twila's best, October 17, 2005

I would have written this review anyway, but I just had to respond to the review by "Ice Man." It seems like we must have listened to two different albums because my opinion of "He is Exalted" is the exact opposite. Just listen to "Days of Elijah" and you'll see that Twila is not bored. "Days" is full of energy and power. Other great upbeat songs on the CD include "Hosanna" and "Messiah," which I absolutely love. The violin on "Messiah" is absolutely haunting and beautiful. Contrary to other reviews, I think these are some very powerful, classic Twila Paris lyrics. The wonderful upbeat new arrangements of "He Is Exalted" and "God Is In Control" bring freshness to two classic tunes. "Hold Me Close" is a classic Twila ballad with beautiful lyrics and music. Twila writes some of the most powerful and beautiful lyrics in Christian music and she continues that trend with this project. The previously mentioned songs as well as "Holy" and "Enter In" are a classic combination of powerful lyrics and beautiful melodies. The "Live" aspect of this project is that most of the tracks were recorded at the same time, unlike studio recordings where the rhythm tracks might be recorded at one time, piano added another time, then vocals, etc. My guess is that the musicians were in separate rooms for their parts and the choir was together in another room as was Twila. This was a great way to record this CD because it gives it that great praise and worship feel with the choir clapping and chanting. One word of caution about this CD: be careful if you are driving a car while listening to it. It's easy to get carried away with praising and worshipping the Lord while forgetting that you need to watch where you're going! I highly recommend this CD for anyone wanting a great praise and worship experience.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Best Worship Album I've Heard, December 27, 2005

I LOVE this album and it's nice to see Integrity Music sign on someone like Twila who not only has the integrity as a Christian leader, but also has the talent from God to put out such a worshipful CD.

Not bad for a 40-something mama either! :)

I highly recommend this album above just about any others I have heard. Her new arrangements for God is in Control is awesome and the other songs she didn't write like Days of Elijah are absolutely wonderful.

In a day and age where "worship" music is focused on us as the worshippers, it's beautiful to see someone focus on Christ and Him in worship. I hope she does more in the future.

Get this today, you won't be disappointed!

This is an incredible CD with world class musicians, back up singers and of course Twila at her best. The band is really hot.

Hearing Twila live is so refreshing. She starts out with big sounding worship and ends with beautiful soft worship as only Twila can do. Just when you think you have heard all Twila has she brings a CD like this along. Just superb!

I have all Twila's CDs. I have been to three of her concerts. I've met her one time. She is the same person on CDs, concerts and in person. One beautiful person!

I agree with the customer who responded to 'Ice Mans' comments. It is a great worship album, and Twila does not sound bored; instead she sounds like she is speaking with her heart and soul and singing with her heart and soul!

I would rate this album more stars, but they only go up to five. I also love Messiah! It is one of my favorites!!!

This is a must have for any Twila fan. For those who are not fans, it is a great worship experience. There are several familar songs and a great mix of new. All the recordings are inspiring. This is one of Twila's best.

5.0 out of 5 stars Twila Live Is Top Notch!!!, October 16, 2005

I personally love Twila's live music. I prefer her live music to that of the studio. One great aspect of this album is David Cleveland's guitar playing on the album. Enjoy his slide guitar on These Are the Days of Elijah, to his screaming solo in God Is In Control. Twila Paris sounds best in a live concert where her greatest fans are there too. This concert was not announced on her web site. I've been to five Twila Concerts so I know my favorite concerts are when the public are invited. Having said that, Have you heard Messiah? That's a great song!!!!!
I wish Twila would keep putting out new material on a regular basis. Such a formula makes for personal revival in the soul!! Get this cd and put it on your ipod and then listen! You will be happy to hear He is Exalted!!!! It's a jam on this album!!

Put on your headphones, turn up the volume and just Praise the Lord, this is a prayerful and spirited album well worth the money.

5.0 out of 5 stars A slight departure for Twila; but hopefully not a permanent detour, September 13, 2005
This review is from: He Is Exalted (Audio CD)
Admittedly, I was disappointed when I learned that Twila was no longer with Sparrow Records and that she had signed with Integrity. Although I enjoyed "House of Worship," her previous release, I was looking forward to another adult contemporary album from Twila.

However, I must admit I was pleasantly surprised by "He is Exalted." The instrumentation is more vibrant, aggressive, upbeat and contageous than her other recent recordings. I have really missed the passion displayed on recordings such as "Beyond a Dream." Some of that passion returns here on "He is Exalted."

"Lifted Higher" is truly a contageous opener. I enjoy the remakes of "He is Exalted" and "God is in Control." I love "Hosanna," particularly the crescendo in the bridge. I also consider "Days of Elijah" and "All Things Work Together" to be album highlights. I thoroughly enjoy the album and it has taken semi-permanent residence in my CD player.

There are a few concerns. First, the album uses way too many repetitive phrases that at times cause the album to seem monotonous. This is truly not a problem of the song writing--this is a problem of the arrangements of the songs. In my mind, it is OK to have a chorus that repeats the same phrase over and over (such as "Let your kingdom come" in the song, "Messiah"), but if the chorus is repetitive, you want to watch how many times you repeat it (otherwise you end up sing the same phrase 16 times). Case in point: I thought that the repetition of the phrase, "There is no God like Jehovah" (on "Days of Elijah") went on too long. Again, these are personal preferences and are issues of the arrangement, and not the song writing.

With all of that aside, this is truly an excellent album. Here's hoping for a rapid return by Twila to her adult contemporary roots.

I love, love, love this CD! Twila Paris sings like no one else and brings her love of the Lord to a new height with these songs. I love the older ones, as well as the new like "These Are The Days of Elijah". A great CD that I've used to begin bible studies with...I just can't say enough about how much I have enjoyed this CD.
