Beautiful Music,
By A Customer
This review is from: He Got Game: The Music of Aaron Copland (Motion Picture Soundtrack) (Audio CD)
The Music of Aaron Copleand is timeless and purely Amerian. Thus, it is the best choice to be in a movie about basketball, one of America's favorite sports. This collection of Aaron Copland's music introduced me to this great composer and is a perfect start for new classical listeners. SUperb.

Stellar Copland Set, With "Grover's Corners",
By
This review is from: He Got Game: The Music of Aaron Copland (Motion Picture Soundtrack) (Audio CD)
Spike Lee does everyone a favor by releasing this excellent selection of Copland's best music. It doesn't serve as a substitute for the full works-- best to track those down in fuller collections-- but it's a judicious choice that hits all the high spots. Especially welcome is a lovely version of the hard-to-find (for some reason) "Grover's Corners," called "Grover's Corner" here. You hear it just about every year during the Oscar telecast when they show the actors who've died. It's a hauntingly simple and dignified elegy that's perfect in every way, and it's on this disc. For that reason alone, it's worth purchasing.

"The PERFECT Odd Couple"!,
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: He Got Game: The Music of Aaron Copland (Motion Picture Soundtrack) (Audio CD)
I remember originally watching this film back in 1998 at the Cheltenham movie theater, just outside Philly. I would have never imagined that the original score, was created by a gentleman (Aaron Copland), decades earlier. I've always have and continue to be a huge Spike Lee fan. The soundtrack (songs) = Public Enemy and the soudtrack (music) = Aaaron Copland is definitely "The PERFECT Odd Couple"! An African American hip hop group, combined with a renowned Jewish composer is magical and "AMERICAN"..."Thanks Spike".
