Book Description

If you like Mary Higgins Clark, you'll like He Loves Me Not.

Stay away from him. When college student Lily Jamison receives the ominous note, she convinces herself it's a mistake. After all, she's barely met the two men it could be referring to. But as she begins to fall for the man with the striking blue eyes, the disturbing messages increase.

Refusing to believe warnings from an anonymous sender and trusting her own heart, Lily presses forward with her relationship, eventually coming to understand the meaning behind the messages as she fears for her life.

He Loves Me Not does not contain any profanity, but does contain mild sensuality (kissing). It is 83,000 words, which is approximately 300 pages.

1.0 out of 5 stars Very simple, very annoying October 7, 2011
By Marge25
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
I got through reading this book because it is an extremely easy read. I started it, so I finished it. But I did not enjoy it. I found the writing style very amateurish and uninspired. The main character could not have been more incapable of making a good decision. If there was a solid reason for this, it should have been explained better. Her mother passed away when she was young, but her Dad was extremely supportive until he passed before she went to college. But she claims to have had a solid upbringing, not one of turmoil making her incapable of recognizing when things aren't quite right. I think if a main character is determined to self-destruct, you should explain why. She was "in love" after one or two dates. I could almost accept that, if the author gave me cause for this. There was nothing. The object of her affection was closed off and revealed nothing about who he was, yet her heart "swelled with love" at the mere sight of him. If the author wrote, "my heart filled with love", "my heart swelled with love" one more time...
After an entire book of a girl ignoring every sign pointing to, "this guy is bad news", you kind of give up on her completely. She goes from sympathetic, to pathetic. If the writing had been more intriguing, clever, humorous, anything, I could have hung in there better. Instead I just raced through it, praying for the end. When it finally came, I realized this was the first of a series of books. I always finish a book I start, so I did, the entire time, hoping for something better to happen. It didn't. I needed to finish this book, but in no way am I tempted to pick up the next installment. This series will go on without me. I wish I could be more positive.

1.0 out of 5 stars Astoundingly Bad March 3, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
I am compelled to write my first review because of how awful this book is. Even as a freebie it is way overpriced. The entire tone of this "novel of suspense" is monotone. I'm not sure if I read the same book as the other reviews. The main character is supposed to be damaged and shy, but she's written as really simpleminded, with no real evidence as to why she's making bad decisions. Really upset that my time was wasted, I could have organized my closets and been more excited.

1.0 out of 5 stars Disappointed December 1, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
I decided to read this book after reading several good reviews, but I've read a lot of great books lately, so this one suffered horribly by comparison. It reminded me of a 4th grader's writing style (ie. 'He went to get the remote control and turned on the TV.' 'I was sad and started to cry.''I loved him so much and he was being mean to me.') Those aren't direct quotes from the book, but they're close from what I can remember. Honestly, it's difficult for me to even recreate the type of juvenile writing style Ms. Kersey uses. The plot of the story was a huge let-down as well. She introduces characters or ideas and then drops them. She might expound more in the sequel, but I knew I couldn't force myself to read that too. I only finished reading this one because I don't like to leave a started book unfinished. This one is really better left alone.

1.0 out of 5 stars Too Bad February 22, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
This was an awful read. And I'm like another reviewer in that this is my first review. Not sure what book the others read (the four and five star givers) but I only finished it to finish it! Major disappointment from beginning to incomplete end. I even went so far as to NOT recommend it to my sister.

1.0 out of 5 stars Really dumb! February 25, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
It's a poorly written story about a really, really dumb girl. It's really hard to relate to her, or to feel any compassion for this frail, helpless nut. Is there a reason why she's constantly splashing cold water on her face? When the story gets boring, you can always start counting how many times the author sends her off to the ladies room to splash her face. The events are improbable, the characters are annoying, and the end is just plain stupid.

1.0 out of 5 stars Just say "No!" February 21, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
This book was definitely not my style. Lily drove me crazy! She could have just said "No" to Trevor and saved herself a lot of trouble. I, as a reader, could have just said "No" to reading the book and saved myself an evening of wondering if this story was ever going to get any better.

SPOILER ALERT There was absolutely no development of a relationship between Lily and Trevor. They meet, have a few brief encounters with a lot of kissing involved and BAM, they're married and the marriage is abusive. I wish the author had given Lily a few more "relationship smarts" before the marriage. I know Lily was lonely, but she seemed like a fairly intelligent woman in the beginning of the book. I would hope that any self-respecting adult woman would at least ask a few questions of a potential marriage partner about his history, family, likes/dislikes, etc. I guess if the author had written according to my formula there wouldn't have been much of a story because Lily wouldn't have married Trevor at all. Just say "no!"

3.0 out of 5 stars Just ok
This book is an ok read for suspense but its not that noteworthy on a literary scale. I will however read the sequel just curious to see how it ends. The plot is fairly familiar.
