I just finished reading He Speaks to Me by Priscilla Shirer and it was wonderful! If you like Beth Moore, you will definitely like Ms. Shirer. Some books that I read like this often fizzle out towards the end and pack less punch, but this one only got better. I think I underlined half the book! I felt encouraged, comforted and convicted all at the same time and I very much look forward to applying this practical principles to my life. They are not new principles, but her directness and clarity really made it so real to me. I can also relate to her as she is a mom of young children as well! It is based on 1 Samuel 3. Very worth the read!

A group of women related only by neighborhood (not church affiliation or denomination, nor maturity in faith) are doing this study. It is a challenge for sure, but worth recommending!

The study focuses on why young Samuel heard the voice of God, and how we (particularly women) can be more directed and transformed by Him. The author is not afraid to get to your heart and ask tough questions.
Note: "hearing from God" is not charasmatic in this book, but it pushes the reader to dig into the word of God for true understanding and transformation. The "homework" questions are open-ended, rather than fill in the blank, but very manageable to do for a weekly study.

Hot public topics (wives submitting to husbands, homosexuality, legalism, and more) are in this study. This might present a challenge in group discussions, but don't shy away from it! Take the lead from the author and concentrate on your own heart, rather than the failings of anyone else, and you'll find true value in this book.

Our group has grown (in numbers, faith, and relationship with each other) during the course of this study.

Anyone who wants to "Hear the Voice of God", this book is truly a God sent! This book was used in a bible study that was dynamic! Excellent and I can't hardly wait for the next book! Pricilla Shirer by far did a excellent job in preparing and providing the necessary guidance in her book! Well Done!

Though I have not yet finished this book, what I have read is amazing! It is inspirational, motivational, and will give you the "push" that you need to fully give your life to God and see the awesome places and things He has planned for you!! I highly recommend it!

I loved the fact that "He Speak To Me" constantly refers back to Scripture. It's not just the authors commentary on how she thinks you can hear God speak to you. There are many Biblical references that lead you to analyize why you might or might not be hearing from God. Loved it and recommend this book.

NOTE: this is the WORKBOOK that goes with the DVD set (separate). I got a lot from this study. It essentially takes the story of when little Samuel heard from God in the temple and picks it apart so we can apply those factors to our own lives. I've been a Christian for just over 12 years...and have been actively studying and growing during most of that time. I feel that I was taught, I felt under conviction for some shortcomings, I felt encouraged often, too. This is a study that I found myself wanting to share parts of with many different people. I even want to lead this myself for a different group of women. I really like Mrs. Shirer in the DVD video clips. The video is also visually comforting & inspiring. Please note that this particular book is the companion workbook that should be used with the DVD course, although there is a "stand alone" study book by the same/similar name that one can get if one isn't participating in the DVD study. Leader guide is in the back of each of these workbooks. Highly recommended.

Priscilla Shirer is a gifted writer and has been anointed by God. I am grateful and blessed she has shared her insight, wisdom, with the gift God has given her.

Priscilla's writing style is easy to read, personable, humorous and her points flow very naturally. She is so personable it feels like I know her as a sister and friend. She backs up her insights with scripture. The book is loaded with wisdom and practical application for ones daily walk with God. Likewise the truths are simple and easy to understand and follow. There are questions to reflect on and a prayer at the end of each section.

There were so many words and revelations that spoke to me, uplifted me, encouraged, convicted, humbled me and to get on my hands and knees and made me cry. God has spoken to me during this time and called me his daughter - "Daughter, your faith has healed you. Go in peace." The God of the universe wants to have a relationship with me and delights in me. This is awesome news!

God has been teaching me a lot during the time I have read this book and Discerning the Voice of God. Some of the areas He is been teaching me is to wait and trust in Him. Let His plan be my plan and in obedience to follow Him. Surrender my day over to Him before I do anything else in the morning... Not because I feel I have to - but out of my love and respect for Jesus. Another critical area I learned was to battle the stronghold of negative thinking with the armor of God, using the helmet of salvation and the sword to the Spirit and His word. Our thoughts are one have the hardest areas to control.

In the midst of reading this book - He has been revealing His character to me and speaking to me and it is awesome! Most importantly the book reiterates - it is all about having an intimate relationship with God and not just what we can get out of God. That our individual relationship with Him is unique, He knows me like no other and shares with me things about Himself. God does speak!! Sometimes a still small voice and/or with authority! Most often it is in His word and that is how we get close to God. He has called me daughter and delights in me! It brought me to tears. I needed to hear all these truths. I have grown spiritually and healed in the process. There have been several moments like this. I feel restored, renewed and revived in the Lord. Yes, and loved. My relationship with Him grown and is more intimate.

God does speak! Call on Him and believe He will! To learn more about this life changing experience and restore your relationship with God - get the books. I highly recommend He Speaks to Me and Discerning the Voice of God. Both are life changing, bring revival and restoration. Likewise - a more intimate relationship with God.

I am starting "A Jewel in His Crown" and will get more of Priscilla's books.

this book, which is also available in bible study format, is just an amazing instrument to open your heart to just how much you are loved by God. It is a practical, spirtual and funny journey to a closer relationship with God. You will definitely be listening more and getting closer to God once you have experience the power of Priscilla Shirer's expression of how God helps give us His best. It is the gift to give your friends.

FYI-Be aware that there are two different books with this title. One is for a study with questions, the other one is without. I was wanting it for our ladies bible study-with the questions, but didn't know there were two-and ended up getting the wrong one. My "better" price ended up costing me more:-(

This is a great Bible study - Priscilla Shirer is a young lady with much to say to all ages. We will definitely do other studies by her.
