Editorial Reviews

2009 album from the two time Grammy Award nominee and groundbreaking Electronic pioneer. Packed with club smashes like 'Kickdrum' and future Synthpop classics such as 'We All Wanna Be Prince' and 'Spank You Very Much', He Was King is arguably his most concise, complete work since Kittenz & The Glitz ripped up the electro rulebook back in 2001. ''This is my Electronic Pop record,'' preens Felix Da Housecat, ''Whereas Kittenz & The Glitz was straight up Electro, He Was King is straight Felix Da Housecat Pop with a nice electronic feel.''

Felix Da Housecat is always reinventing himself to produce cutting edge beats but somehow manages to keep his signature sound.

He calls this album pure "pop" and most songs do have some catchy choruses like "We All Wanna Be Prince" and "Spank U Very Much." But there are also some wonderful tracks like "Elvi$" and "Kickdrum" that sound something like a computer dropping acid- and these are the tracks I am most impressed with.

This album sets a high bar for electro in 2009.

Love Felix, have not been on his stuff lately, heard Kickdrum on KCRW one day and was like "hellsyeah, I needs that!"

just finished listening to the album and I should have just stuck with Kickdrum. It's quite boring, to be honest. He's had some boring stuff mixed in his previous albums, but this one has 10/12 boring tracts that I will be deleting from my playlists. If anything, I'd suggest buying the MP3 singles for "Kickdrum" and "Plastik Fantastic". "Do Not Try This At Home" is OK, too.

The cd started off with classic Felix tracks, smart synthy beats with cheeky lyrics. thoroughly enjoyable. and then I got to the tracks Elvi$ and LA Rave... they made me go mental, I heard these dropped @ We Love Space, good purchase.
