A good self help book on multiple intelligence.,
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Head First!: 10 Ways to Tap into Your Natural Genius (Hardcover)
This book seems like a blend of Howard Gardner's multiple intelligence theory, and Michael Gelb's Discover Your Genius. In fact, the works of Michael Gelb and Tony Buzan is converging so much over the years, it gets hard to remember who wrote what. It does not matter, they are both great. In this book, Buzan clearly outlines 9 different types of intelligence. You can test your own intelligence within these 9 types, as defined. Buzan makes also sound recommendations on how to exercise and improve each of these intelligences.

Mental Muddle - Not Model,
By Victor (UK) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Head First!: 10 Ways to Tap into Your Natural Genius (Paperback)
Well ten different ways sounds promising. The more ways, the better.
However! The ways turn out to be "different types of intelligence". OK, I suspected something was a bit off, when the promise of tapping your natural genius is actually just a horribly misleading sales promise, guaranteed to disappoint. In my search for more ways to behave smarter, I was confronted with a description of how Richard Branson did it. I really can't see how this guy can help. The real creamer though, was the recommendation to masturbate. I realise it is completely natural, and something that even the loftiest IQ holders do, but to recommend it for brain stimulation really goes beyond silly. Or is the author just jerking us around? I read this book very carefully (not speedreading) and did all the tests and exercises. There is really nothing new here. After reading this book, I realise now that Howard Gardner is also more than a little off key. How many more "seperate" intelligences are we going to have by the end of the decade? Recent research shows that these so-called intelligences cannot actually be called seperate anyway. Gardner and Buzan seem to be working from the same mental muddle. We don't need more intelligences, just more definite ways to help. So, unless you are just looking for an expensive tome devoted to woolly ego stroking, go for a good book on learning/study methods instead.

Rewrite,

Maybe it's just me but this book seems to be a rewrite of Gardner's original work. In any case, there's nothing new or of note here.

Good springboard on your way to Greatness!,
By Hopefully Helpful "Hopefully Helpful" (St. Louis, MO) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Head First!: 10 Ways to Tap into Your Natural Genius (Hardcover)
This is a very useful book to read especially if you want information that leads to other self improvement topics. I was once a kid who put little effort toward school, almost kicked out of high school, bad in college - but used some of the information found in this book to take a MENSA admission test and pass! Good stuff.
The information this book covers is amazing. While each "intelligence" can be better learned about by concentrating on books dedicated to each subject individually, you will do yourself a disservice by not reading this book. It can only lead to becoming a more well rounded individual and may even spring you towards greatness. Are those "greats" we read and hear about like Leonardo DaVinci, Babe Ruth, Oprah, Einstein, Mozart, and Gandhi as capable as they are/were because they were born that way, or did they use and practice knowledge that we all have access to. I think you know the answer. This book will be a starting point for you. The book describes how to improve ten "intelligences" (think of IQ, but for other than just "smarts") which provide for a well rounded person: 1. Creative intelligence 2. Personal intelligence 3. Social intelligence 4. Spiritual intelligence 5. Physical intelligence 6. Sensual intelligence 7. Sexual intelligence 8. Numerical intelligence 9. Spatial intelligence 10. Verbal intelligence The book is easy enough to read to be a great starter book, but with ample info to satisfy those who are "further along" than most.

Mas pseudo ciencia para su bolsillo,
This review is from: Head First!: 10 Ways to Tap into Your Natural Genius (Paperback)
