Book Description

Aspiring actor Jordan Patrick is rapidly realizing the world has no use for another theatre student. Desperate to prove his talents have value, he agrees to work for Dr. Foster, a psychologist who secretly hires performers to infiltrate the everyday lives of his patients, and then stage situations which advance their therapy. Once they're in, Foster's players trick his clients into situations designed to make them confront their issues.

This part-time job becomes Jordan's toughest role yet as he's assigned to follow an eccentric patient named Julie, lie his way into her life, and help Foster rebuild her trust in men. White Oleander author Janet Fitch raved, “Kevin Alex Baker is a rare find, and Head Games is a sweet discovery, a ripping page-turner.”

Editorial Reviews

Review

"Kevin Alex Baker weaves a web of intricate lies, plot twists, and humor so well, the reader gets caught up and doesn't want the book to end."

About the Author

Kevin Alex Baker learned how powerful words can be on his fifth birthday, when he was hit by a bookmobile.

His resulting phobia of literature catalyzed his interest in psychology, and as he pondered a life filled with the non-stop excitement of clinical research, Kevin dreamed up a radical new approach to modern therapy. The one problem was no matter how effective it might be, running the program would cause any ethics committee to strip him of his license. Kevin didn't have the guts to defy them himself, so he wrote a story about a therapist who did. The idea grew, and as Kevin overcame his fear of books, the story evolved into Head Games, his first novel.

Head Games was written in Studio City, California and Waikiki, Hawai'i, where his chances of accidentally encountering a book were incredibly low. Kevin lives and writes in San Francisco, California, and would love to hear from you at kevinalexbaker@gmail.com.

5.0 out of 5 stars This book will keep you delightfully in suspense :-) November 1, 2011
Format:Kindle Edition
This book is incredibly funny and suspenseful all at the same time. You can relate with the main character whether you are male or female. The main character takes you on a journey, running around campus, and engages you in this crazy psychological experimentation. I would highly recommend buying this novel. Kevin Alex Baker really uses a lot of his inside knowledge of what it's like to be in theatre at the university level. If you are a starving actor/actress or know of one and can relate, this novel will amuse you for sure. If you are a psychology major as well, this is perfect for you. If you have never attended college, well... this is a pretty accurate account of college life, therefore you can live vicariously.

I give this book 2 thumbs up! BUY IT, read it, love it, you won't regret it!

4.0 out of 5 stars Fun Psych Thriller February 6, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
I love Psyche thrillers but usually go for the dark scary. I picked this up from a recommendation and am very pleased I did. It is not what i usually look for in this genre but was a fun surprise. An easy read that flowed and entertained so that I kept reading. There were really good twists and turns with alot of surprises. The personal and self deprecating humor of the main character really keeps you laughing and questioning his choices along with him.

Not what I was expecting but really glad I picked it up. Good writing style and formatted well for the Kindle.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic Thriller! January 3, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
I loved this book so much I read it straight through the night. The gripping story and the humorous storytelling kept me turning the pages until the end. If you only read Head Games once, you're not doing it justice. Every time I read it I find something I missed before, whether it's a clue or an inside joke. I'm a thriller fan, and Head Games is now on my list of favorites.

A few good chuckles, mixed with mystery...for an entertaining read. He may have missed his calling, as an actor, to become law enforcement.
