"Slayer having sex with Credence Clearwater Revival on acid! With haircuts!" That's one way of describing the racket this Seattle duo makes--their own, incidentally. There will be no accusations of false advertising, though, for a band whose members have collectively put in time with indie hell-raisers like the Murder City Devils , the Whip, KARP, Dead Low Tide, and the Tight Brothers From Way Back. Jared Warren provides the spine-rattling bass and dog-bark vocals while drummer Coady Willis offers the car crash drums. Explosive songs like "White Pizazz" and "Technically Electrified" won't just annoy the neighbors, they will cause them to move at least two states away. --Aidin Vaziri

Seattle duo, Big Business has more in common with the past projects of bassist, Jarred Warren than it does with those of drummer Coady Willis. While Willis is surely responsible for bringing some of the Murder City Devils' punk sensibility, Big Business' sound is more akin to The Whip before it reached its untimely end. More specifically, think Karp via High on Fire with Cliff Burton's massive bass tone from "(Anesthesia) Pulling Teeth." Their uncanny ability to craft complete, hook-laden songs simply by primarily using two instruments has much to do with Warren's powerful & clean vocals, as well as the clever lyrics which work on myriad levels.

Yes, it's Jared & Coady, and yes it's very good. Very loud and rockin'. Basically it's a 2-piece (bass & drums) as a live band...but for this recording, they got some backing guitar help from several sources (one being Dave from THE SHINS I believe). This record will have your head bobbing and your fist punching the air. One part guilty pleasure, and one part warm & cozy feeling. This album leaves me longing for the days when MC DEVILS and KARP both ruled the Pacific Northwest, as well the gaining a large cult following around the U.S. and eventually the world well past their demise. And while they have yet to do a massive tour through the states (they've done quick excursions on the East & West Coasts), they will be everywhere very very soon. For those fortunate enough to see them already, certainly they were not disappointed...

I could go on and on...just check them. You'll be convinced.

This is heavy music the way it's meant to be played. It's somewhat hard to believe that it's only 2 guys creating all this racket. This is bone-breaking sludge of epic proportions. Recommended to fans of Melvins, Mastodon, and High On Fire. Buy it now. I can't wait to hear them team up with King B and Dale C.

Amazing, the Melvins are an easy but apt comparison. Also Federation X or a less Southern-fried version of Tight Bros from Way Back When (interesting name award). An awesome album in any case. Do yourself a favor . . .
