5.0 out of 5 stars Surf's up in hell!
I love this CD - but it helps to have seen the Bomboras live. Giant tikis, flaming guitars (literally - they light their equipment on fire) and go-go dancers covered in fake fur bikinis shakin' their rumps to the surf beat. Yeeehaaaaw!

If Gidget ever went on a killing spree - this is what it would sound like. A great slab.

1.0 out of 5 stars A little better than the last disc
Yes I admit this is a cool disc but it sounds like nothing has really changed for these guys since the Savage Island disc on Dionisus Records. That disc showed off the better side of their songwriting - the band seems to have stalled and gotten more or less stuck - as was my only real complaint with the last disc. It all starts to sound the same after 3 tracks. Once...

5.0 out of 5 stars More Organ!, June 23, 2007
This review is from: Head Shrinkin' Fun (Audio CD)
This disc is awesome, I don't understand why it's getting such a bum rep. The Bomboras are pretty much the killerest surf band out there. The only thing this cd needs is some more organ and Ventures covers.

It all starts to sound the same after 3 tracks. Once again thats the problem here. Production was GREAT but the tunes just don't hold it for me this time around - nothing infectous about them. Although I enjoy the disc some I'm hoping the guys will get wind of this and focus more on the songwriting. Give us something different to hear guys! PaulB

2.0 out of 5 stars Yuck., July 19, 2002

I got this disc ...the cover art looked cool so I opened it and pressed play.

Yuck.

Head Shrinkin Fun is a very mediocre recording by a very mediocre surf-punk band. Now don't get me wrong, the musicians sound accomplished in this style of music..and they do it somewhat well. But after hearing things like Dick Dale, or even The Ventures, this is weak in comparison. It seems as though all the songs sound the same to me. I just don't find much worth to this CD.

2 stars for being rather dull, repetitive, and not as good as others in the genre.
