2) some don't like "pulling" vs "pushing..." I prefer pulling... the wheels on the ATX are larger and smoother than the sport.. both perform well.
3) I don't particularly care for the blades from headblade.. I use Gillette Sensor blades because I can buy them in bulk cheaper than the ATX blades.. I don't care about 4 vs 6 vs 2.. the adapter on the Sport for Sensor fits the ATX fine.. both blades work well, but Sensors are cheaper for me, so I use those. Sensor Excel specifically.
4) the cream Head Slick gunks up and works really well otherwise, but the best results I've gotten by FAR are with Every Man Jack shave cream, or Bull Dog.. either way, these creams blow the Headslick away.. they are all good , though. Every Man Jack is paraben free, made in USA (as are Headslick, Bull Dog).. the ATX and Sport devices are made in China, fyi.
to summarize.. it's not that I am making a revelation.. I am using Sensor XCel blades with the ATX.. and Everyman Jack... I often do cut myself because I struggle with doing my "sides.." I generally angle the ATX and move it UPWARDS from behind/above ear UPWARDS.. that yields the closest shave for me.. I cut myself once out of every 30 shaves.. and I use the ATX twice daily.. the cuts are always VERY small.. I do this with the Sport, or ATX + ATX blades.. that's just me.
This device has really been a great thing for me.. I used to use a Panasonic Electric razor.. I still do in a pinch, but I get 5x the closer shave with the ATX or Sport than electric.. I am simply used to, now, the ATX.. it's larger, smoother, and easier to maneuver..Read more ›
Excellent upgrade for any HeadBlade user, or those who are looking to convert.
I replaced the original adapter and blade from a refill package. For whatever reason, it now works much better. The original blade and adapter never worked from the start. So far, so good with the 4 blade replacement. The old version remains slightly better.
I watched several video reviews and demonstrations & read the user's manual when it arrived (a largely useless little slip of paper which I can only assume was included to satisfy legal requirements). I felt excited and reasonably well-prepared to finally try it out this evening in the shower.
...The following 5 minutes constituted the single worst shaving experience of my life; not because it was awkward to "wear" (it was), nor because it didn't seem to shave anywhere near as close as my old hand razor (it didn't), nor even because it took twice as many passes as my old razor to satisfactorily smooth out an area (it did)...but because on the 3rd or 4th pass over the back of my head, the Headblade ripped a chunk the size of my thumbnail right out of my scalp.
I bled like a stuck pig and now look like I'm suffering the beginning stages of leprosy. Even after it heals, the skin on the scalp is very delicate so it's entirely likely this will leave a scar. I'd gladly accept that maybe I just screwed up and temporarily forgot how to shave, but as soon as that happened I switched back to the old razor and finished with zero further issues.
Under NO circumstance should a product designed to perform one and ONLY ONE extremely specific task present a hazard when applied to that task. All it's meant to do is shave a head.Read more ›

Skip this model and use the Sport. This model simply relies too much on the adapter suspension and as soon as it looses its firmness, the shaver is useless. Read morePublished 6 days ago by skibike
