5.0 out of 5 stars It works, August 14, 2003
By A Customer
I experienced pain above my groin and in the pelvis/abdomen for about four years before it was successfully controlled--mostly elminated--by learning the techniques from these authors. My pain was a dull ache, and the pain would worsen if I had to stand or walk for a long time (e.g. a movie theater line or walking in a shopping mall). Three urologists in 4 years could not find the reason for the pain, but it persisted. I also endured uncomfortable invasive medical procedures and bouts of powerful antibiotics, all without being healed. Finally, a urologist who had heard a research paper being delivered by one of the book's authors at a medical conference referred me to them at Stanford Urology. After beginning their progressive/deep relaxation protocol and physical therapy, my symptoms were reduced in intensity by 90%-100% (becaming mild, occasional episodes rather than chronic and painful). The best part of it: no drugs, no fancy medical procedures or spooky side effects. Actually knowing how to heal the problem elminated the tremendous emotional and mental burden of having the previously mysterious pain; I could control it--and even eliminate it. This is not the quick-fix; it takes time and discipline, probably for a lifetime.

5.0 out of 5 stars the techniques in this book healed me completely, July 22, 2003
I suffered from prostatitis/CPPS for 3 years and my life became absolutely miserable. I received 4 different diagnoses from 4 urologists, tried over 20 prescription medications, vitamins and herbs and underwent several very uncomfortable and expensive procedures, all of which did hardly anything to help my symptoms which had slowly increased in intensity over time (sound familiar?) Eventually I met one of the authors of this book, David Wise, and he taught me the techniques described in the book. Slowly I began to heal myself, without any medication. Six months later my symptoms were diminished significantly and nine months later I felt I was healed. It is now 2 1/2 years after I first started to practice these methods and I feel that I have been freed of this horrific condition. I cannot recommend this book highly enough for those who are still suffering. There are many schools of thought regarding this syndrome and I studied all of them obsessively at one time. I feel very strongly that over the coming years the ideas in this book will eclipse the other models of this disease and come to be recognized as the most powerful methods for dealing with it as more and more people are seen to have solid and long-lasting benefits. Mine is not the last testimonial you will see. I should say however that it is not a simple or quick solution and it requires a lot of devotion, but chances are the end-result will be your freedom. Best of luck, do not abandon hope until you have given these methods your most sincere effort.

5.0 out of 5 stars finally, something that works!, July 24, 2004
I was having many symptoms described in this book and they peaked while I was out of the country in a developing country, no less. After having antibiotics, alpha-blockers, antispasmodics, painkillers and being told I had BPH and later IC, I had started to despair. The urologists couldn't really figure out what I had and when I told them about the enormous amount of stress I had leading up to this and that I spent alot of time working at a desk chair...well they looked blank. On my recent trip I was in so much pain and the only thing that really helped was a hot shower. That was my first clue that something such as relaxation might help. I had frequency, urgency, burning pain, pain in the penis, and scrotum. I had access to a computer with the internet on my trip and during my down time I started to review the medical literature on IC in men and prostatis in men. I was convinced I had IC, although a potassium test was negative (one doc was pushing me to go on Elmiron while one was against it). I found some helpful info on the internet about overactive bladders and stuff like don't panic and try to stretch the time interval to urination. Doing that and drinking a great deal of water helped with the problem. After reading a review of this book at the IC network, I called the publisher and somehow the author (Dr. Wise) called me. I was blown away that he would talk with me. We talked for some time and he seemed to be caring, compassionate, and well versed in the medical aspects of the problem. I started to get better as soon as he gave me some tips over the phone! I got the book and it is very comprehensive. I started the relaxation procedures but I can tell this will take some dedication but it is really worth it. I'm bringing the book to my urologist next week.
