How many times can you count to 4?,

I love the music of Front 242. I consider it some of the best music I've ever heard. Headhunter, however, is not my favorite piece of work, and this is too damn much of one song. The remixes are good for the most part, but you have to listen to each one seperately to appreciate them. If you just throw the cd on, by the time you get past the third or fourth track OF THE FIRST DISC, you're sick of hearing the same song over and over and over and over. Don't get me wrong, I like the mixes on here, they are worth hearing, but it's almost painful to have to listen to 17 versions of the same song. If you're a dj looking for a new way to play an old song, or if (like most Front 242 fans) you NEED to get everything they put out, then get it. Otherwise, save your money.

By the end of the second disc, everything is very repetitive,

The 2 disc set starts out well with remixes by Front Line Assmebly and varied DJ's, and is pretty solid through the first CD. After the :wumpscut: mix on the 2nd CD, though, everything breaks down into droning, synthesized beats which don't combine well with everyone's favorite "Lock the target" lyrix. Overall, though, i recomend the CD, just for the fact that it's the newest selection from Front 242.

The Front 242 Anthem,

Headhunter is not the best song of Front 242, but this is their best "Single". A lot of different kind of mixes, from the darkest to the dancest. A CD to enjoy...

DJ Smash,

If your a DJ you need this one. For the fans, I would highly recomend this CD, but don't expect to be able to sit it out. The songs are great, but the same song over and over again gets old fast.

Excessive. Listen with caution!,

With 17 remixes of this song, the album gets tedious. Some of the remixes are worth reccomending like the remixes by Haujobb, Space Frog, Aqualite and Front Line Assembly. Most of the others suck.

Pure greatness,

My favorite song is Headhunter, and this album is certainly the epitome of greatness in remixing. Front Line Assembly's excellent RMX kicks off the album, with a version of the song that is still similar to the original, yet has an FLA feel to it...which is great, because FLA is my favorite band. Doug Laurent's RMX is great, because it focuses on the string notes from the chorus, which is the best part of the song, and makes them sound more natural. True greatness. Apoptygma Berzerk's RMX is sonic manic depression, Empirion's RMX is absolutely brimming with energy (and it makes EXCEPTIONAL use of the new vocal track recorded by Jean-Luc de Meyer and Richard 23), and Space Frog's RMX is totally different from the orignal, yet most excellent. Buy this for certain....

Wow -- The best since EViL-OFF!,

This review is from: Headhunter 2000 (Audio CD)
If you liked the experimental fresh style of OFF, you'll LOVE this one. Haven't gotten all the way through it yet, but the first disc is better than the second. Was expecting more from Apoptygma. But on the first disc, TALLA 2XLC blows you away with hard hitting rhythms -- the Germans do it best! Beefcake surprises by tearing up the original Headhunter and re-creating into something vastly different. Outstanding! And Front Line Assembly blasts through with another hard drivin' mix -- be sure to check out their new stuff on Metropolis!I'm friends with the owner of Metropolis records -- a great guy who gives artists TOTAL FREEDOM and doesn't lay down the pressure like big corporations. Please don't steal this disc over the net -- support the little guy and buy this bargain! And what a value! Only $13 for 2 CDs and 17 songs! Don't pass this up, Front 242 and FrontLine fans!

I've owned this for several years and recently revisited it in my collection - only to discover that disc 1, although identical to disc 2 in appearance, actually has a completely different soundtrack on it - in other words, it does not contain the Headhunter remixes but an album by an unknown industrial band. Very strange. However, disc 2 has some great and not so great remixes - the stand out ones being the Funker Vogt, Apoptygma Beserk and Empirion ones.

A Very good collection of good EBM Bands. Starting with Front Line Assembly finishing with SpaceFrog. Jean Luc De Meyer always present Vocals can explain the power of a band that make the story of Industrial Music and concept.

Good idea, but leaves a lot to be desired,

This is a classic song by a band that I like, remixed 17 times and packaged in a double-cd set (for the price of about a normal album). Great idea, I'm a remix freak so I figure I'll like at least some of the mixes....and some were in fact OK. NONE of the 17 did I like more than the original version from 10+ years ago (and the original version isn't included either). Decent remixes: Front Line Assembly, Talla 2XL, Doug Laurent, Empirion, Suspicious and Space Frog. But none of them blew me away, and most of the remixes were monotonous and uninspired. For hardcore Front 242 fans only. Most mixes are closer to the sound of UP EVIL then to their older albums.
