Ugh! Is Bass 16?,
This review is from: Headhunters (Paperback)
I can't believe a grown man wrote this book. The worse thing about it was him trying to 'get into the minds' of the female characters and failing miserably. The book was childish, BORING, and unbelievably bad. I only finished it because I was trapped on a plane. Terrible. Run away from this book. Run fast.

I really feel bad writing negative reviews. After all, the author put time and effort into writing, and gave a piece of himself to the public. I'm also taking into consideration that this was his first book. But--even that can't excuse this book. I don't believe the author poured his heart and soul into this one--it read like he slammed it out in a weekend; like it didn't take him any longer to write it than it does to read it. It's awful. I'm sorry. Having said that, I believe the author CAN write--he just needs a better story. His style was great, the story was terrible. I may even pick up his next book--but only after reading the first chapter to see if it's more of the same. This is a weekend read. It has a few gems, some good spots that will keep you turning the page in hopes the next chapter will be good too. Sadly, your hope will fizzle--the story becomes predictable (one character speaks with the woman she's impersonating and learns that even the rich and famous have problems), yet in the same breath, it's so unbelievable you want to choke. Come'on..these gals run up bills beyond belief, they use and abuse men who use and abuse them back, they are guilty of fraud, the men try to rip them off blind--yet in the end they all end up happy with their bills paid (through the lucky chance of their professional jewel thief turning 'good'), and they all get married and live happily ever after.

I gave up,

I read 20 pages - hated the writing - and just gave up. It was too confusing and I didn't feel it was worth the energy to keep reading.

Kinda Lame,

I'm sorry, but this book lacked bite for me. It was dragging from the beginning. I had to force myself to finish the book to see how it all ended. If I could've, I would've returned it.

Headhunters made me decide that if a book bores me after the first quarter, put it down--odds are it won't get any better. It was really, really boring. I did read it all, but felt like I had wasted two days doing it. Definitely a one star book.

Absolutely Charming,

Jules writes with such a charismatic style that captivates your mind and makes you wish you were there with the women embarking on a journey. It takes you through so many of the emotions of us women have about wanting to get out and take chances. And lets not forget about the men in the book... this book is a must read you wont be able to put it down.

And Amazon said I'd love it. :/,
This review is from: Headhunters (Paperback)
Amazon used my rating of a Marian Keyes novel to judge my reaction to this one. Boy did they miss the mark. This book was so difficult to get through, but to "give it a chance," I finished it. Okay, so the ending was cute--I wish I would have skipped right to it once the characters had been introduced. The main characters, both male and female, are money hungry scam artists. That's the premise. While they're all deceiving each other, love blossoms. That's the plot. What's left is fluff. I think the book could have been good had the author not tried to 'write like a woman' when his female characters were thinking or talking. I felt like someone was trying too desperately to make me relate to them, and I just couldn't. I couldn't relate to the men either, but that's a given and didn't bother me. The characters were flat and unbelievable. The story dragged on and the entire thing could have been scaled down to a women's magazine short story. And I may have enjoyed a short story version. I'll skip the movie, and recommend skipping the book. The only exception, in both cases, would be long trans-Atlantic airplane flights.
