this clearly says it is a 2.5mm jack. that means you can only use HEADSETS with it, not headphones. headphones require a 3.5mm jack. still, wish they made a 3.5mm that was set up exactly like this one.

I think people must have bought this for the wrong purpose. I bought it to attach to a 2.5 mm headset and it works perfectly.

If you're buying this in the hopes of using a wired headset to make phone calls and speak to people, this is what you want. Wired headsets may be out of fashion, but they're great for call monitoring and recording. Some people have given negative reviews because they didn't want a headset adapter, but the product's purpose is clearly advertised.

On the other hand, I purchased numerous other "headset adapters" from various sellers, and all of them were speaker-only and did not allow me to use the microphone. They are effectively "headphone adapters", but aren't labeled that way. Apparently both sides are frustrated and confused by the mislabeling of other products, but this does just what it says it will.

If you're hoping to split the line and use a call recording set up, then this is just what you want. If you just have a favorite old wired headset, this is what you want. If you want to use stereo 3.5mm headphones, get something else.
