4.0 out of 5 stars Real metal? For real?
I first caught word of Flybanger when they toured past me with Hatebreed and Sepultura, and while their stage show was not as impressive as Hatebreed's, they left enough of an impression for me to invest in a CD....and it was worth the money.

3.0 out of 5 stars Just good plain rock
No rap-rock about it. Flybanger pretty much does their own thing and steers away from radio rap-rock bands. Not that there is anything wrong with some rap-rock, but it does get rather tiresome when that is all you hear on the radio these days. That is where Flybanger comes into play. I first caught word of Flybanger when they toured past me with Hatebreed and Sepultura, and while their stage show was not as impressive as Hatebreed's, they left enough of an impression for me to invest in a CD....and it was worth the money.

What Flybanger does: play metal, and play it well.

What Flybanger doesn't do: wear ridiculous baggy pants. Wear funny-looking masks. Scream and whine about their parents. Tune down to C. Use turntables.

If you're on the verge of despair because of this seemingly endless march of cheesy heavy-rock bands like Slipknot or Korn, then Flybanger is the breath of fresh air you've been searching for. An actual dedicated band, with actual musicians who know their way around their instruments, playing real, straight-ahead metal music with a healthy dose of melody and harmony to boot. Headtrip to Nowhere is sort of a kinder, gentler Pantera. It charges ahead energetically with Cavalry, takes a short jazz break in Blind World, unleashes a ruthless melodic hook on Evelyn, steps in radio-rock with Demon Away, and ends with the cathartic, furious release of Company. And the tracks in between all make an enjoyable listen, as well. Do you miss metal? Then pick this up, you won't be disappointed.

5.0 out of 5 stars FLYBANGER RULE, PRETTY MUCH!, December 7, 2001
This review is from: Headtrip to Nowhere (Audio CD)
when i first bought this CD it was a random buy, down at a record shop where i manage to find many good random american / canadian bands who don't get any notice over in the UK. when i first listened to it i was relieved because i was expecting more of a nu-metal feel to it, which it doesn't have. what i got was more of a nu-rock feel. i think i like every song on the CD but especially 'crackballs' and 'when are you (gonna die)?' anyway if u like rock with a bit more power and heaviness in it, then this is probably for you.

5.0 out of 5 stars AWESOME BAND!, March 7, 2001
This review is from: Headtrip to Nowhere (Audio CD)
Flybanger, a band that totally rules. I love this CD as It's not your regular nu-metal CD. Sure, this CD is harsh, heavy and loud but a lot of the songs such as my favorite "Blind World" use melody to create an original wall of sound. The guitar riffs made of just simple power chords are backed up by Rob Wades confident drumming and Garths powerful melodic vocals. Since I got this CD which was about a week ago, I havn't stopped listening to it. I own a lot of CD's from bands like Korn, Creed, RATM, Sevendust and all that nu metal stuff but I rank Flybanger at the very top. Although this Flybanger have been around in Candada a long time this is there major label release. I predict that they will go very far and they deserve to. Original, melodic and powerful but the main thing is it doesn't get old quick. Go pick it up and enjoy!

5.0 out of 5 stars great cd, April 13, 2001
This review is from: Headtrip to Nowhere (Audio CD)
well, the first song i knew by flybanger wass "blind world". it was on the dracula 2000 soundtrack. i instantly liked it, but when i heard the cd i was quite impressed. it is not the typical nu metal like slaves on dope, primer 55, dope, coal chamber etc. do. it sounds more like sevendust or staind with classic hard rock elements from bands like buckcherry, nashville pussy etc. it has some great tracks like "cavalry", "radical", "blind world", "when are you" and "company"

4.0 out of 5 stars Flybanging under the Radar, December 13, 2007
This review is from: Headtrip to Nowhere (Audio CD)
These guys released an EP in 2000, then released this little-known cd in 2001. It was my first year of college, and I was building my music collection. I am into all types of heavy music: from thrash and death, to hard rock and even "nu-metal". I have a pretty open mind and think that if I stuck to certain styles of heavy music, I would miss a lot of really great stuff. For that reason, I often buy cds without knowing much about an artist. I am pleasantly surprised more often than not. This was one case where I instantly liked it. I had heard "Cavalry", one of the singles, and thought it was a decent song. So I picked it up, and found that it was a very solid album. In fact, "Cavalry" was one of the weaker songs on the album. This is not nu-metal. Let's get that straight right away. They have more in common with hard rock or Load/Reload era Metallica or maybe early Godsmack. This is by no means a groundbreaking album, and isn't very complex, but the tunes are solid, with only 2 stinkers, and it is fun to listen to. And that is number one in my book: fun. I think this was one of the best hard rock releases of 2001.

5.0 out of 5 stars AWESOME METAL WITH A GREAT GROOVE!!!, June 24, 2004
By A Customer
This review is from: Headtrip to Nowhere (Audio CD)
I love this CD!!! I am a Metal Head but I love the GROOVE on this KICK-BUTT CD. This CD is great because it is hard but it also rocks... it has a killer GROOVE going on!! Some of the songs make you want to jump up outta your fat butt and rock. Some of the songs are dark and heavy but most of them are lighthearted and fun. I love this band!!! I hope they don't disappear. They make fun of everything and it makes for a fun musical experience. I especially like the way they poke fun about drugs and sex, two things our society takes way too seriously. Check these guys out. They have a great rockin' groove and a lot of tounge in cheek attitude. If you love hard rock, you'll LOVE FLYBANGER!!!

3.0 out of 5 stars Just good plain rock, March 17, 2001

No rap-rock about it. Flybanger pretty much does their own thing and steers away from radio rap-rock bands. Not that there is anything wrong with some rap-rock, but it does get rather tiresome when that is all you hear on the radio these days. That is where Flybanger comes into play. Flybanger is plain old untapped Canadian rock that is easy on the ears, music to just chill out to. The standout track on "Headtrip to Nowhere" is "Evelyn." Truely a great song. Other great tracks on the album include: "Cavalry", "Haul", "Demon Away", and "Radical." I got interested in Flybanger after seeing them live. They do put on a great live show. I highly recommend Flybanger to people who like simple and to the point music and to people who need a breath of fresh air from all the rap-rock the radio is trying to shove down our throats.

5.0 out of 5 stars M. D. Boyles Is Correct - Loyal To Real Metal, May 19, 2005
This review is from: Headtrip to Nowhere (Audio CD)
Flybanger was a band that was spurned upon for being labeled as a "nu metal" band. I don't really consider these guys to be "nu metal", as they actually play guitar solos in their songs and don't use annoying turntables in their music all the time like *cough* Linkin Park *cough*.

Personally, I think of this band as a more matured Slipknot, minus 5 members and the masks, along with some elements of Pantera and other true metal bands in there. I don't own the CD, but I have heard samples off iTunes and have the mp3 for "Calvary" (I did not pirate it). This is a pretty good CD, and it's such a shame that they broke up, while other no talent bands get all the success and appear on TRL and all of that B.S.. Please don't mistake this as "another nu-metal CD", because it's not, although it appeals to nu-metal fans and the like.

5.0 out of 5 stars Loyal to real metal, August 18, 2004

This review is from: Headtrip to Nowhere (Audio CD)
Since Scumbag MTV has pretty much ruined heavy metal and hard rock with piece of crap no talent bands like Limpsync Bizkitstreet Boys and (P)iece (O)f (D)ung and Stinkin Park or on the other side the eight thousand sound the same no talent bands like Creedy Crap or Puddle of Crap or Nickel Crap. It's great to have a band like Flybanger come along. Who's love for pure metal music shines through in all of their songs. Do you know why these other bands don't play solos in their songs? Because they can't!
