Product Description

Bridge Constructor Playground offers people of all ages an introduction to the topic of “bridge building”. This game gives you the freedom to let your creative side run riot – nothing is impossible. Across 30 innovative levels you have to build bridges over deep valleys, canals or rivers. Following this your bridges will be subjected to a stress test to see whether they can support the weight of the cars and/or trucks which drive across them.

In comparison to the #1 hit Bridge Constructor, Bridge Constructor Playground offers an even easier entry to the game incl. an extensive tutorial, a free-build mode and each level offering five challenges to master instead of just two. Tackle each level without constraints and freely build your bridges to move on to the next level. If you want to enter the next island however you have to win a certain number of badges that can be earned in the levels. The badges belong to different categories that offer different challenges: safety badges demand to stay below a certain maximum stress amount, whereas material badges require the use of only certain materials. All in all, the game offers 160 challenges to master (on four islands)! All of this paired with a bright and friendly look combines into an exciting, challenging and also educational experience for the whole family, offering hours of gaming fun.

This is a Sequal to the 1st Bridge Constructor game with some nice Additions and Improvements! It has been Developed by Clockstone Studios in Cooperation with Headup Games (not a copy or theft). The Credits from first page will verify this. It also has a GOOD TUTORIAL section which is actually the first Region called TUTORIA. Every level has Instructions, Suggestions, and pertinent info to help you learn the features and process for building. You then use your own skills to improve your bridges.

The Graphics are Awesome HD 3D Quality and the Bridge weight carrying Tests are Realistic. The Music and Sounds are Pleasant and Appropriate to add nice Atmosphere to the game. The Controls work very well with Smooth material placements on my Xoom Tablet. All selecting buttons work properly and can be Expanded or Closed on both sides of screen to give larger view of bridge areas.

OVERALL: A very Engaging, Challenging and Satisfying game to Test your Physics and Building Skills. Anyone who like Physics / Puzzle apps should like this one. The Permissions seem OK for the features included. Looks like most of the Negative Reviews were a result of not paying attention to the CREDITS, Developer Info and realizing that the 1st TUTORIA Region is actually the Easy TUTORIAL that is well done. Tutorial teaches methods but will not guide you through every decision on each level. Gets more difficult as you progress and makes you work for enough Achievements to open next Region. You can also REPLAY Levels any time to Change Bridge design and increase scores. Good Replay Value too.
It is a well designed app that should not be shot down if player does not like this type of game either. It is VERY GOOD and plays exactly as described. Glad I tried it for myself. It's a definite KEEPER!

Contrary to one of the one-star reviews, this is a licensed spinoff of the original game, and a great deal as a Free App of the Day, Nor do I think the permissions are excessive.

This is a fun physics style game. It is the "playground" version of the original game because, apparently, you can earn badges for achievements, something that isn't in the original game.

You build bridges, try to stay under budget and within safety requirements. You test your bridge by driving cars and, if you're feeling really good, trucks. You get badges for building a car-safe bridge, a truck-safe bridge, staying within budget, staying safe and using a minimal amount of materials.

I really enjoyed this game!

5.0 out of 5 stars I liked it. April 17, 2013

I don't know what the other reviewers are talking about with this game. I was able play the game in air plane mode with no Internet connection at all. The first island of the game is called "Tutoria" yes because it's instructions on how to play the game. I turned the volume on my kindle fire down and there was no noise at all coming from the game so I had no problem playing it in a room with sleeping people. I like the game! And since it's free today it's even better! I had a lot of fun playing it and if you are still worried about the internet thing just play in airplane mode. I like it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Official Sequel to Bridge Constructor April 17, 2013
Verified Purchase
First off, this is an official followup to the original Bridge Constructor, developed by Clockstone. Clockstone developed this version and teamed up with Headup Games to distribute it. Both companies' logos appear when starting up the game.

Secondly, the app permissions on this game are not bad, and are actually pretty standard for a game app. It has internet access for posting scores to Facebook (optional), and doesn't have access to any personal data on your phone. It also doesn't have any ads, aside from a link buy to the original Bridge Constructor game from the menu screen (if you call that an ad).

As for the game itself, it has a basic tutorial section (the first world is called Tutoria) that introduces you to new concepts and new materials. However, it doesn't hold you hand in terms of bridge design and pretty quickly expects you to design bridges without any guidance. It's very much expecting a trial-and-error approach, where you may not succeed on your first try, and encourages experimentation.

4.0 out of 5 stars A Fine App - and some clarification April 17, 2013
Verified Purchase
I'd like to counter the misinformation in some of the other reviews:
1) Within the app, the Credits show that it was jointly created with the dev of Bridge Constructor. 2) Bridge construction does not require wifi; it works offline. 3) The game begins with projects which provide good tutorial instructions on how to use the app.

4.0 out of 5 stars Oh, jeez Sheeple! April 17, 2013
Verified Purchase
OK, first off, what this game ISN'T.

1. It's not a ripoff from another game. The original developer (ClockStone) seems to have official licensed HeadUp to clone the game into this version, so stop panicking there
2.It's not a data miner. It has internet access to connect to Facebook. Dunno what other libraries are contained within but look at what the app can't do - it can't scan your SC Card, has no access to Contacts or accounts. Just what sort of data mining do you sheeple think it's doing, extraction by ozmosis? Good lord people. Stop panicking about what's not and enjoy what it is.

So, what is the game?

It's somewhat annoying yes, but a pleasant way to pass the time. It starts off easily enough and it's hard to mess up the first couple of bridges or so, but when you progress you begin to find designs that may not work as well for trucks as it does for cars.

The controls slightly irritated me until I realized that you can zoom in and out which makes creating longer spans a bit easier to accomplish. However I'm still left a bit puzzled on how I'm meant to achieve certain goals since there is no obvious marker as to what one has to do to achieve some of the badges.

All in all it's not a bad game, normally I'd give it a 3 but budged it up slightly to offset the sheeple (yeah, I know - so sue me)

Personally I'm not sure yet if I feel it's worth money to play. Perhaps as the game goes on I may change my mind. As a AFAotD though I have no complaints.
