Winner of the Bronze Medal (Young Adult -Coming of Age) - 2011 Readers Favorite Awards and Finalist in the (Christian - General) category.

"You don't get it, Dylan! Ronnie was absolutely beautiful, smart, fun to be around...." "And you're not, is that what you're saying, Leigh?" Dylan stopped and spun her around. "Did Jake ever say that he liked Ronnie more than you?" "He didn't need to say it, I just knew..." Leigh would not look Dylan in the eyes. "You've got a huge chip on your shoulder, Leigh." Leigh was hurt by the tone of his voice but she had to admit that he was right... "Look, don't put yourself down...ever, at least not around me. I think maybe it was my baby sister who showed me to admire girls who don't take any crap from anyone. She was stubbornly pig headed...remember my tattoo?" Leigh nodded. "Maybe that's what Jake liked about Ronnie. She sounded like a girl who didn't care what the rest of the world thought of her, she did her thing anyway. Not saying she made all the right choices, but hey..." Dylan did not finish the sentence. He refused to make a judgement about the way Ronnie had led her life. "I'm not too sure about this Jake guy though. I'm worried when he realizes how dumb he was to let you go that if he ever comes back into your life, you'll dump me...but then again..." He paused and looked deeply into Leigh's eyes, "...maybe not. Give me a chance okay?" Before Leigh could react, Dylan leaned down and kissed her warmly on her lips. His eyelashes fluttered against her cheek. His lips were soft and she felt herself kissing him back. He lingered there for what seemed to Leigh like an eternity and then when he released her she thought her knees would buckle under her. Dylan looked at her, grinned and then said self-assuredly. "Bet that Jake guy never kissed you like that." Leigh had to agree. HEAL THE WOUNDED is the much-anticipated sequel to LYNN DOVE'S debut novel, SHOOT THE WOUNDED.

5.0 out of 5 stars buy lots July 21, 2011
Format:Paperback
If you want to know what the book is about read the other reviews; I agree with every glowing word. My only complaint is that the third book in the trilogy isn't out yet! I bought the first two Wounded Trilogy books in bulk and keep them on hand for gifts -- mostly for teens but occasionally for mothers of teens too. The book is a great read and conveys spiritual truth in a well crafted plot with believable characters. Highly recommended!

4.0 out of 5 stars Great Message for Teens January 23, 2011
Format:Paperback
HEAL THE WOUNDED is the second in a trilogy by Canadian author Lynn Dove. The entire series is aimed toward the YA market, but it is worth reading no matter what your age. In HEAL THE WOUNDED , we are introduced to several teenagers who are facing some tough problems. First, Jake, a Christian from a loving family, has to deal with the fact that his mother has been diagnosed with cancer. He is still reeling from the death of a close friend and wonders where God is in all of this. His girlfriend Leigh is also struggling. Her insecurity and an untimely fire force the two apart. Meanwhile, another teen, who happens to be the brother of the deceased friend, has turned his anger and confusion inward and begins `cutting' himself to ease the emotional pain. I don't want to spoil the story by explaining what happens, but the author draws us into the emotional whirlwind that is the life of a teenager with skill and conviction. Her characterization seems very true to real life as she deals with some tough issues. In fact, the series has apparently been listed as a helpful resource for anti-bullying. My only negative comment, which in no way reflects on the author or the book, is that I think I may have gotten more out of this second book if I had read the prequel, SHOOT THE WOUNDED, first. Dove does a good job of explaining the back story, however, which includes teenage pregnancy, gossip, stereotyping and other issues about making choices. In the end, this is a solid book that is entertaining yet manages to pack a wallop in terms of its message to teens. I highly recommend this, and the rest of the series, to young readers everywhere.

5.0 out of 5 stars You Don't Want To Miss This Book January 18, 2011
Format:Paperback
Heal the Wounded is a sequel to Shoot the Wounded. Don't let the title's deter you from reading these books. I read both books in three days. I could not put them down. Lynn has taken the characters in Heal the Wounded and brought them to life. Although these books were written for Young Adults the lessons learned in these two books can be applied to anyone. I've loved to read since I was a child and I would have given anything to have been able to read books like this when I was in High School. Lynn addresses the unique challenges that teens and young adults will inevitably face. As adults sometime we forget what it was like during our teen years and find it hard to relate to our teen children. Lynn has found a way to do just that through her books Shoot the Wounded and Heal the Wounded. If you have a teenager or know of someone who is in their teen years then this is a must have book to give them as a gift.
