A gift that really helped me,
By
This review is from: Heal Your Heart: Coping with the Loss of a Pet (Audio CD)
Shortly after our 14-year-old beloved Lexi (collie/corgie mix) died of cancerlast spring, a friend gave me this wonderful CD. Even though I had fellow dog-lovers galore to share my grief with, I found that listening to this soothing and insightful CD really helped me cope with the first death of a pet that I've ever had to endure.
Ms. Litzinger has obviously been there - loving a pet, dealing with the awful but sometimes inevitable choice of euthanasia and thanking those people whose reactions to Lexi's death often was "Well, at least she lived a long, happy lefe." Hah, I'd of gladly had her around for many more years. More importantly, I had this tool available to me when our 18-year old Daisy, Queen of the house, died peacefully in her sleep at home two weeks ago. I put Heal Your Heart back into my CD player and listened all over again. There is something about being alone in your grief that is in itself healing, and sitting alone listening to Ms. Litzinger's soothing voice a second , even third time, helped enormously. We are still blessedwith two younger dogs in our home but some day down the road, we may well be faced with the same loss. The Heal Your Heart CD and booklet can't bring our much-missed dogs back, but it can remind us of their time with us was a blessing, however long or short. I just lent this CD to my sister, whose own dog is facing serious surgery. I would recommend this prouct to any and all dog lovers. Laurie H. Pittsburgh [...]

As someone who had her 16yr 4mth old furry daughter (DSH) cross over, I found this audiotape very soothing. Not only was the reading soothing itself, but so was the accompanying music. I also appreciated the exercises, along with the little booklet. It is a very gentle guide through an extremely painful, long journey. It wpuld be an excellent gift for anyone going through this journey.

When I lost my baby Bauer,

When I lost my baby Bauer, a tiny little Siamese kitty, I wasn't real sure how I would cope with the grief. Bauer was only with me 10 months and I lost him to the street. I felt guilt and horrible depression. I am also a bird lover, so I take Bird Talk magazine and found a small but beautiful ad for "HEAL YOUR HEART, COPING WITH THE LOSS OF A PET." I immediately thought about Bauer and hoped this C.D. would somehow touch my heart so it could start to heal. I also remembered how many beautiful birds I had lost in the past and was never able to completely cope with the situation.
This C.D. really did TOUCH my heart. Ms. Litzinger really knows of what she speaks and I am so glad I ordered it. It allowed me that personal time to grieve and heal little by little as I listened to it. If you are in the throws of pain and tears, this little C.D. and booklet will help you over that hump. It will make you feel so much better about your loss, no matter how deep and personal. If nothing else has helped, try this, please!

Healing words,
This review is from: Heal Your Heart: Coping with the Loss of a Pet (Audio CD)
I lost my cat to a liver dysfuntion, last year. She was 12 years old when she died. I had her 11 years, and she was my "furry" companion and was greatly affected by her death. I listened to Karen's CD and it was so helpful on many levels. The beauty of this CD will really help you with the on-going process of grieving, helping you with comforting steps along the way. She actually validates how losing a pet is a grieving process, and to help people realize that it's okay to grieve about our pet losses. She extends this process to help with children and gives specific ways to honor your pet's death.
She is informative (provides a wealth of information: support groups and resources), compassionate, and comforting. I highly recommend this CD.

I purchased this CD within days after my 16 year-old poodle/maltese passed away due to complications of old age, and listened to it several times during the following week or so. If you're looking for basic, clinical advice on how to make a decision regarding euthanasia, this is not the product. This CD is what you listen to when you're experiencing deep pain and grief from just having lost your pet. Yes, it's rather new-agey, if that's not your cup of tea, but personally I found it very comforting to have soothing music, positive affirmations, and kind words during that time. Certainly this is something you can keep in your library and share with family members or friends when they experience the same loss.
