Thanks Dr. Shamban!

The "workbook" style is also very appealing, and the "recipes" for masks and other facial products, are a great touch.

I love this book because it offers powerful, complex information in an easy-to-read, accessible way.

This has no information in it that you cannot get for free anywhere on the Internet. It just tells you the basic info that most people already know. Eat right, exercise, and take antioxidants. It just draws it out. Nothing new here at all. Old information. I get tired of wasting money. My fault.

These days anyone can write a book. Everything can be researched by yourself for free.

This down-to-earth manual addresses the very real challenges skin faces throughout the stages of life, with a combination of real science, practical strategies, and upbeat advice. The tone is less like a visit to the doctor's office and more like a conversation with a friend--a very smart friend who won't let you get away with less than your best. There's something here for everybody, no matter what your age or skin type, whether you're just looking to improve on your already-good skin care regimen or (like most of us) you've let the sunscreen slide until one morning you wake up with "age spots"--and you're only 30!

What sets this book apart from all the other "celebrity derm" books out there, though, are the real solutions offered for people facing particularly difficult skin challenges--like persistent acne, the hormonal changes of pregnancy and midlife, and (most importantly, because there's so little out there on this topic) the skin-damaging side effects that accompany many of today's most successful cancer therapies. I'm not personally affected by any of these at the moment (knock on wood), but I still found lots to learn from the advice.

All this, plus interesting tidbits like how to read a skin care product label, Q & A, personalized skin care plans, recipes for organic masks, and sections on the vital connection between nutrition, fitness, and skin health--this is the one book your skin needs.

Written by a world renown dermatologist, one might wonder if this book would be too difficult for the average person, let me assure you it is not.
Straight forward and helpful for women of all ages. It would make a wonderful gift for daughters, mothers and grandmothers alike. Explainations of the latest skincare remedies as well as the homemade tried and true recipes, Dr. Ava lays it all out for the taking. She has broken new ground in describing skin as it relates to pregnancy, menopause, and illness. It is her passionate concern for the cancer patient that shines through and lets the reader know they are not alone. This is not a book to read through once, but a reference book to keep on your shelf and refer back to for yourself or others. I recommend it to all, but especially women who are going through or have gone through cancer treatment. Thanks Dr. Shamban!

The book is very user friendly and describes that various elements of healthy skin in a thorough, articulate, and interesting manner. Her advice offers a holistic approach to skin care that makes sense, given the obvious connection of one's skin to the entire body and to stress and other emotions. There are practical pieces of advice that anyone can follow for years, without advocating a complex regimen that would unravel in a few days. The "workbook" style is also very appealing, and the "recipes" for masks and other facial products, are a great touch.
