From Library Journal
It is a tenet of holistic medicine that the body has many ways of healing itself, but the mechanisms by which it does so often have eluded scientific inquiry. In the past decade, practioners in a cross-disciplinary field known as psychoneuroimmunology (PNI) have begun to explore the relationship of mind, nervous system, and immune system in the healing process. This unique overview of PNI research describes its historical foundations, controversies, and future promises. Of interest to informed laypersons and health specialists, this is recommended for most public libraries and subject collections. Judith Eannarino, George Washington Univ. Lib., Washington, D.C.
