This wellness sampler draws on the wisdom of ancient traditions updated for contemporary living. Editor Patricia Shaw, co-owner of Coventry Creations, weaves information on alternative healing modalities such as yoga, tai chi, ayurvedic medicine, crystals, herbs, acupuncture, and aromatherapy with journaling prompts, guided meditations, quotes, and articles on reiki, Ascended Masters, quantum thinking, and relationships. Healer s Almanac works on many levels, engaging both right-and left-brain thinking. The book is divided by season into four sections. Each month begins with a to-do list (after all, these are 21st century goddesses). New and full moon phases are addressed with a half-page journal space left for notes on working with that month s moon energy. Next is wisdom from 21st-century goddess who, as Shaw explains in the introduction, are less archetypal and more experiential than the goddesses of old. We ll look for goddesses in our own psyche, give them a voice, and listen to their messages. Each two-page spread includes a meditation, an inspiring quote, a message from the goddess and a lovely full-color illustration of what a contemporary goddess might look like. Journal pages follow that, and then an article by a variety of authors including one on aromatherapy by Jacki Smith, who co-owns Coventry with Shaw. This book is an amazing reference for so many alternative healing modalities. It is an easy read while still imparting a immense amount of knowledge. A must read for anyone who wants to heal, physically, mentally and/or spiritually.

I've not read another book of this caliber. Patty includes healing, spirituality, recommendations, moon phases and more to help you better understand your environment and how to best heal or work within it, as well as presenting you with new options along the way. What I loved most about this book is that there is something in it for everyone. You as the reader can choose your path, and take from the book the information, exercises and recommendations that best work for you. In addition, it is a fantastic reference guide that truly will light your path. This book definitely is a "keeper".
