This review is from: Healing the Boss's Heart (Love Inspired) (Mass Market Paperback)
Healing the Boss's Heart was the first in the After the Storm series. The premise of a town healing after a natural disaster was a good one and the stories well choosen, but not always up to the author's ability. I got the feeling that the "master plan" stifled the stories.

I'm reading these in order, and this book had me hooked through the first half of the book. Then it slowed down a bit...Greg and Maya were in his office working when the tornado hit. Actually, Greg was OUTSIDE dealing with a mischevious little boy when the storm hit... The tornado sorta threw the couple together. After her house was badly damaged, Greg offered Maya a place to live until he could fix her house. He also saved her from running out into the tornado when she panicked that her little girl may be in trouble. Soon, not only were Greg and Maya deemed a couple, but Greg started falling for the little orphaned six year old boy who'd lost his puppy in the storm. This was a good story. Like I said, the first half was exciting and fast-paced, I think only three days had passed through the first half, but when the author skipped a week, then several weeks it seemed to slow down a bit. There was only one small kiss shared before the ending kiss, and the love was only luke-warm throughout the story. The final chapter was really good as well. One problem: Maya told Greg about her past relationship half-way through the book, but then when Greg's father voiced the same thing Maya was afraid Greg no longer wanted her...That confused me since she had already confessed the truth! This was a good opening to what I hope will be a great series.

This is an excellent book which introduces the first of the three Logan family members. Maya has a daughter from a previous relationship. A tornado strikes introducing characters that will continue in this six part series. Tommy is an orphaned foster child being bounced from home to home. Maya and Greg take him in and plan to adopt him. I also recommend A family for Thanksgiving which includes a little girl lost during the tornado and Clay Logan develops a bond with the boy. In this book Tommy is stubborn and takes off on his own trying to find his lost dog. Jingle Bell babies is the third book which deals with Jesse raising triplets.
