5.0 out of 5 stars Zen is a path to reunion between man & his wounded earth., May 23, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Healing Breath: Zen Spirituality for a Wounded Earth (Ecology and Justice) (Paperback)
This book is a moving, inspiring and challanging discussion of Zen Buddhism and its value as a pathway for modern man (us, right now) to realize our (to put it mildly) interconnectedness with the universe. The universe which, in this neck of the woods, is our very own wounded, polluted, broken, plundered, ravaged and despoiled planet. This theme is also reflected at times in Christian terms. Chapter titles offer a sense of the reunion possible between man and environment:

* Toward Healing/Tracing the Roots of Our Woundedness

* Taste and See/The Zen Way of Life

* In Attunement with the Breath

* Awakening to True Selfhood

* Embodying the Way

* This is My Body

* Coming Home/A Five Point Recovery

This book is a complete review of the basics of Zen, rooted in a most relevant way in the predicament of here-and-now man at home in the issues of the 20th Century.
